Tigers play on the road against a very good Fordham team Sunday that beat a previously undefeated Stony Brook (7-0) at home tonight 71-59. Fordham's 3 losses have included #5 Baylor and #24 Notre Dame. They will be a tough out for the Tigers on the road. From a RPI standpoint, another quality opponent.

It was good to see Columbia come back and beat a very good Delaware team during the final 2 minutes. Tigers had previously played Delaware on the road and had a 20 pt half time lead.

A nice Chen stepback jumper at the buzzer trims the Fordham lead to 7, Fordham leading 20-13 after 1 quarter.

Not a great defensive start for the Tigers

Chen closes the 2nd quarter with another stepback iso jumper and the Tigers go into halftime down 33-31. Much better defensive quarter but 11 TOs offensively have hurt

Great turnaround in 2nd quarter. Carla Berube really had this team playing smart ball

Just when I thought we were taking control, Fordham ran 17-4 at the end of the 3rd quarter. This game may be out of sight. Fordham is tough in many of the same ways we are.

Tigers came out flat -- perhaps a hangover off the trip to Florida. Fordham was well prepared and played great. Perhaps, a wake up call.

Problem is that the next four games are beyond challenging. If they play well, they may go 2-2. Strikes me that the non-conference schedule is almost too far over the edge although it will toughen them up for IL play. With IvyMadness, they may be putting themselves at risk as to receiving an at-large bid if they do not win IvyMadness but who knows.

I agree with T69, Fordham played the kind of defense the Tigers usually play and were also super-aggressive going after 50-50 balls. Every shot was contested and Princeton did not have enough offense to overcome Fordham’s intensity. Hard to overcome 17 TOs on their home court, that was the difference in this game.

That and Fordham going 21 for 25 from the foul line while the Tigers only had ten attempts.

Fordham got a couple of lucky bounces on offensive rebounds. But they outhustled the Tigers on several 50-50 balls. That was surprising and disappointing.

Seton Hall/Buffalo/Texas/UCF will be quite the trial by fire.

While it was certainly a disappointing loss, especially after the win at FGCU, there's no shame at losing at home to Fordham.

Fordham beat Michigan State, Seton Hall, and Quinnipiac. Earlier in the week, they beat previously undefeated Stony Brook, which defeated Columbia, St. John's, and Rutgers.

Their only losses came on the road to Notre Dame, Baylor and Arizona State.

At large bid to what? When’s the last time the Ivy League got two teams in? Even an NIT bid is doubtful for anyone who doesn’t win the ILT.

The Princeton women got an at large bid in 2015-16, and the runner up of the women's tournament has received an NIT bid each year Ivy Madness has been in place

If they run the table (including Texas, Seton Hall, UCF, Columbia twice, Penn twice, Yale twice) and lose in the Ivy tournament, they get an at-large. If they do something less...well perhaps we will find out.

Obviously, Princeton would have received an at-large bid to the Big Dance with Bella, Carlie and crew in 2019-20 if they got knocked off in IvyMadness. They had several quality wins during a 26-1 season and they probably would have been no less than a 6th seed if they did not win IvyMadness and possibly as high as a 4th seed if they finished 28-1. Ivies would have had two teams in if someone else won IvyMadness that year.

As to this year, Tigers will have extremely competitive games and may only beat Seton Hall out of the next 4 games as Buffalo, Texas and UCF are crazy good teams == one only has to look who they have played so far this year and the results of these games to know what a challenge that Carla has in front of her team.

It is possible that the two best teams in the IL this year, men's or women's, are Princeton and Columbia with the possibility that Penn women's being at least the 3rd best team after getting thru the suspensions although Penn will not be able to get an at large bid unless they win IvyMadness. I would not be surprised if the regular season champ has possibly two losses during the IL regular season.

Point is that Princeton has set themselves up for a daunting task unless they win IvyMadness and/or win at least 2 and probably 3 of the next 4 games. RPI will be crazy good and they currently have a #20 ranking with NET even with two losses.

Based on current NET rankings:
Texas -- #5
Princeton -- #20
FGCU -- #34
UCF -- #41
Buffalo -- #45
Rhode Island -- #53
Fordham #60
Delaware -- #124
Temple -- #129
Villanova -- #164

Good to have a challenging schedule but ...

** Columbia is #96 with former Princeton Assistant Coach under Banghart and UNC is #2 with Banghart and Littlefield.
