GREAT DUB for the 5th graders!
Can you schedule a meeting with their coach and coach Mac to get some tips on winning close games?

I'm the coach.
We won the game yesterday for one reason only--experience. I've been the grade's coach in soccer and basketball for a while now.
In 2020, I signed up the girls for basketball even though it was a fourth-and-fifth grade league. We were the only third-grade team at the time. We lost every game. Fortunately, the league is good with mercy rules, and everyone had fun!
2021 got canceled because of COVID.
2022--not only are we fifth-graders, but we're the only team with any experience. I expected us to have a fairly easy time for that reason.
The team we played yesterday had some BIG girls. Spectators were strictly limited because of COVID, but I would not be surprised if several of their parents had played college basketball. Had we played them later in the season, or had we NOT done the third-grade thing (i.e., playing against girls much taller than us already), I do not think we would have prevailed.
