The continuing excellence of the Columbia baseball team and its excellent coach Brett Boretti deserves mention here for one reason. Great coaches make a difference. Boretti has won 6 championships and has put the lie to the allegation that the ride to Baker Field precludes excellence. Before I am attacked for posting something about baseball on a basketball forum, I am trying to make the point that a great coach will get the job done.

Boretti’s run the past decade reminds me a bit of what James Jones has done at Yale. He brings in talent and his teams have a certain air of confidence… they expect to win every game, they play with calm under pressure, and finishing 2nd in the league is not good enough.

Penn spanked them in Game 1, but they didn’t panic and got the job done… congrats to the Lions… 5th title in 10 years.

Columbia AND Penn are both great baseball teams and in my opinion they both deserve to play in the NCAA Tournament. Hopefully, the Penn AD, whoever he may be, is pushing whatever buttons he can to get Penn into the NCAA Tournament. Penn seemed WOKE anxious to back the swimmer, Miss Lia Thomas, in the swimming stuff, and she was just one individual. Here you have a whole baseball team that needs support
