As we head into the crucial July evaluation period, here is a complete list of offers made by Bucknell thus far:
Yes, that is correct. Zero offers. In early July of past years, here is how many offers had been reported:
Class of 2022: 10 (covid effect)
2021: 22
2020: 23
2019: 31
2018: 19
2017: 10
2016: 13
There were numerous recruiting/evaluation opportunities in April, May, and June - and Bucknell has to replace two starters and one key reserve this year - so what is going on? Looking around the PL, Army, Boston U, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola, and Navy have all extended 6-8 offers and entertained a number of unofficial visits.
With the huge July evaluation period starting today, we now doubt will see offers. But why no early efforts?

Perhaps, but I would expect that he (and the assistants) would be thinking a good season could save his job. One caveat, btw, there are no offers that have been reported on VerbalCommits.com, which spots about 95% of the offers, but not 100%. Also I have not seen any on twitter - which VC also monitors. But that doesn't mean that there might not be one or two offers that have slipped through the cracks. But that number would be very small.

Normally even coaches on their way out recruit since their player knowledge and relationships are key to them getting their next job. Wonder if there is some fact we are not aware of - very, very unusual.

Just took a look at the various northeastern midmajor conferences. Between the PL, the Ivy, the MAAC, the NEC, and America East, there are 48 schools. Of those 48, who are "peers" of Bucknell, here is a breakdown of how many have extended offers to member os the 2023 class:
Number of schools that have given offers: 46
Schools that have yet to give an offer: Bucknell and UNH.
Of the group of 46, the average number of offers at this point is about 15.

Davis and Bucknell playing their game. They obviously are smarter than those other schools and have some tricks up their sleeves.

In the four days following the end of last week's evaluation period, PL schools in total made 29 reported offers. Bucknell made none of them. I am astounded.

There must be a reason. I am certain that an eminent program like Bucknell would have a strategy to bring in new recruits. Perhaps it is a secret program that includes a non-disclosure agreement and prevents any of these recruits from reporting their offers from Bucknell. That way none of our prospective opponents would be able to prepare for the times they will face us.

It's all very strange. I'm wondering if they're putting all of their eggs in the international basket? Or, perhaps they're developing an NIL program, and they're holding offers until then?

Here is an updated list showing, for different classes, how many offers the coaching staff had extended as of July 18th of the summer prior to the recruits' senior year:
Class of 2018: 22
Class of 2019: 37
Class of 2020: 23
Class of 2021: 23
Class of 2022: 13
Class of 2023: 0 (ZERO!)
A casual observer might surmise that the staff is on strike, or that all of them are out looking for new jobs. I'm not sure what to think. I'd like to think, as Doctor62 theorized, that they are out pursuing international players - but I'd bet heavily that is not the case. The staff has never recruited overseas before and has not brought in any players who weren't playing in the U.S. when they were recruited.
July 20-24th is the last evaluation period for a while. I can't imagine that some offers won't come soon after that. But then again, I would have bet 50:1 that we would have already seen some offers in the past six weeks.

Here is a list of when Bison recruits have committed during the scholarship era. All of them, of course, had received an offer prior to the commitment date - a number of them many months before. Most committed after July 18th - so it's not too late - but many had Bucknell offers/visits by July or August.
Mentally I kind of divide them into five buckets: Very early (winter/spring of junior year); early/normal (June/July); normal (August/September); late/normal (October/November); and late (after the end of November signing period).
Chris Hass 1/9 (of junior year)
Ryan Frazier 1/20 (of junior year)
Brady Muller 3/27 (of junior year) COVID year - little live evaluation.
Dom Hoffman 4/7 (of junior year)
- - - - -
JC Show 6/21
Steven Brown 6/23
Alex Timmerman 6/26
Ben Oberfeld 7/3
Don. Brown 7/8
C. Klebon 7/11
R. Hill July (date not clear)
Ian Motta 7/14
Josh Bascoe 7/15
Elvin Edmonds 7/20
Jake Van der Heijden 7/29
Z. Thomas 7/30
J. Azzinaro 7/31
- - - - - - - - - - -
Deuce Turner 8/1
Nate Jones 8/1
Nate Sestina 8/2
Deuce Turner 8/3
Kimbal Mackenzie 8/8
Justin Castleberry Mid-August (?)
Joshea Singleton 8/14
Mike Muscala 8/18
Darryl Shazier 8/31
DJ MacLeay 9/3
Andrew Funk 9/4
Enoch Andoh 9/5
Steven Kaspar 9/7
Nana Foulland 9/7
Todd O'Brien 9/12
Alexander Rice 9/12
Ben Robertson 9/14
Bruce Moore 9/16
John Meeks 9/19
Malachi Rhodes 9/19
Ben Brackney 9/23
Andre Screen 9/25
John Griffin 9/26
- - - - - - - - - -
Bryson Johnson 10/1
Joe Willman 10/2
Jimmy Sotos 10/3
GW Boon 10/5
Cory Starkey 10/6
Avi Toomer 10/8
Bryan Cohen 10/11
Zach Evans 10/12
Pat Behan 10/17
Probese Leo 10/20
Darren Mastropaolo 10/23
Jason Vegotsky 10/27 (Per Scout; not sure if this is right)
Stephen Tyree 11/1 (?)
Josh Fulton 11/8
Cam Ayers 11/17
- - - - -
Josh Adoh 3/19 (of 5th HS year)
Walter Ellis 4/8 (of senior year)
Kahliel Spear 4/9 (of senior year)
Paul Newman 4/13 (of 5th HS year)
Matt O'Reilly 5/5 (of senior year) - replaced JC Show
Brock Newton 5-7 (of 5th HS year) - replaced Miles Latimer.
Noah Williamson 5/13 (of 5th HS year) - replaced Malachi Rhodes.
Ruot Bijiek 5/14 (of senior year) - replaced Brock Newton.
Fwiw, the quality of the players who committed at the end of July or early August has been very high - Castleberry, Z. Thomas, Mike Muscala, John Azzinaro, Nate Jones, Nate Sestina, Kimbal Mackenzie, Jake Van der Heijden, Deuce Turner, Elvin Edmonds.
One other thing I always find fascinating is the group of players who committed "very early". Only four Bison in the scholarship era have committed before June 21st - Chris Haas, Ryan Frazier, Brady Muller, and Dom Hoffman. Muller was a covid anomaly, and the other three amazingly were all in the same recruiting class and all committed by early April of their junior years.

It had to happen eventually. Bucknell makes its first offer to a member of the Class of 2023:
Brandon McCreesh, a 6-4 CG from the Hotchkiss School in CT. (He is from the NYC metro area.) Has offers from La Salle, Manhattan, and St. Peter's, although all of them are from 13+ months ago. None since. He made an unofficial visit to Bucknell in early May but did not get an offer at that time.
Ranked #29 in New England in last NERR rankings, but that may drop as numerous transfers and post-grads come into the New England preps in the fall.

And another offer, this one to Ryan Mela, a 6-6 wing from Natick MA. Already has offers from Siena, Stonehill, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Loyola, and UMBC.
There is a lot of ground to make up on the recruiting front.

Bison racing to try to catch up. Three new offers:
1. Karson Templin, 6-8 PF from TX. Offers from UNLV, San Jose St, Toledo, Lipscomb, Oral Roberts, UMBC, Abilene Christian, Sam Houston, Incarnate Word, Angelo State.
If he values academics, then his choice should be clear.
2. Seth Joba, 6-9 PF from Bridgton Academy (ME) and western NY. Offers from Canisius, Monmouth, Mt. St. Mary's, Holy Cross, Siena, Stetson, Maine, Lipscomb.
3. Luke McEldon, a 6-11 Center, from Cushing Academy (MA) and northern Virginia. Offers from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, ODU, Hofstra, Penn, Brown, ECU, W&M, UMBC, Siena, HC, NJIT, etc.
It's not clear if the offers from the P5 schools, which are from 9-10 months ago, are still on the table.

Fortunately recruits such as Pat Flannery, Al Leslie, Bob Barry, and Steve Sigl were happy with the nickname of “Bisons” when they were recruited by Charlie Woollum circa 1976.

A few more offers in the past week:
1. Drew Scharnowski, a 6-8 SF/PF from IL. Has offers from Fradley, Drake, So. Illinois, MO State, Valpo, Toledo, Illinois St, Belmont, Furman, Wofford, Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, W&M, HC, Cal Poly, etc.
2. Finley Sheridan, a 6-9 PF from Long Island. Has offers from UMBC, Manhattan, Stonehill, and Army. Played for Long Island Lutheran this past year and will be doing a post-grad year at Newman School in Boston.
3. Gibraltor Coleman, a 6-6 SF/PF from VA (Flint Hill School). Has offers from American and USC Upstate.
4. Thomas Batties, a 6-6 SF from D.C. (Gonzaga HS). Has offers from Yale, Penn, Harvard, Brown, GMU, Loyola, and Howard.
That makes it nine offers thus far for this class. Typically Bucknell has issued well over 25 by this point. The Class of 2019 had 37 offers at this point.

A 6-4 combo guard is the shortest player. What about speed and quickness? Something sorely lacking from Bucknell the last few years.

Sheridan is visiting Bucknell this weekend. In the six weeks since he got the Bison offer, he has received no new offers, so there is a realistic chance.

Radford from 16 months ago and USC Upstate from four months ago. It appears that he got a Bucknell offer and accepted it almost immediately. I hope he surprises me, but is the moment I am not overly excited.
He averaged 9.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg for Higland HS in VA as a junior. Has now transferred to Bishop O’Connell in the DC area. Did fairly well in a short summer session with them.
