31-21 Rutgers at the half, quite remarkable, since we started off very much on our heels, down 15-0 after about 7 minutes.

Our bench is outplaying the Rutgers bench and some of our subs are outplaying some of our starters.

The arena is called “Jersey Mike’s”, as in the sub shop. Seriously.

Yes, we completely collapsed in the second half, 75-35. Not sure what happened, or even perhaps what's the point of scheduling a team so far out of our league.

Of course, it seems illogical to play the toughest team on your schedule in the first game of the season. However, we have taken that approach before.Anyway, despite the lopsided score, I believe we can now say that all four of the freshmen are likely to make a positive impact.

When we had a good team under Smith we played great games for our openers, and gave friths to teams like Kentucky. Just looking at the box score I wonder if some of our returners who put up goose eggs will continue to get big minutes.

The Columbia Women's 77-69 victory over a very good Memphis team in Memphis last night was another one of many Megan Griffith's many coaching masterpieces. The Lions started slowly, but by the fourth quarter they looked totally in sync and playing at a high level. Every coaching move Griffith made worked 100%. More than that, this year's starting five is actually bigger and stronger than last year's excellent starting five so this year's team is capable of winning games against almost anyone.
