Bright California freshman (GPA 4.0) who went to USF for hoops but has requested release because he wants to also play football. Rumors of Ivy League school being interested. Anyone heard anything?

Had been hearing Harvard and also heard Princeton but from the "official commentary" released to the press, with player quotes, it looks like he might be wide open. Was given POY award in football by the San Francisco Chronicle as a senior playing at QB. The POY is presumably for the Bay Area, and not California as a whole. (Not with powerhouse h.s. teams like Mater Dei down in the southern part of the state.)

Played a reserve role at PG on hoops behind Armondo Surrat (who was being recruited out of h.s. by PAC-10 and Big East and returned to Bay Area as a transfer to U of San Francisco). The coach that's there now wasn't the one who originally recruited Shiller.

Seems most Ivy interest in hs was from Yale and Cornell. Harvard doesn't need a QB and Princeton has that "transfer" issue.

Is from same hometown as Penn's Tommy McMahon and no doubt they played a lot of hoops together growing up, but haven't heard anything.

Another article on Shiller transfer.

Drew is a good athlete, but on the small side. Maybe 6'0". He did score 23 points a couple of weeks ago in a loss to Santa Clara.

Wonder what the transfer rules are? He sits out a year for bb but what about fb? USF doesn't have a program. Could it be he's eligible for fb next year and bot bb? Would NCAA rules cover such a complex situation?
