Anyone see this game?

Very tough Ram team, outstanding defenders, very physical, and I don’t think the lead ever was more than 5 points for either team.

Tigers: 16 TOs, 1-10 3FG, 5-12 FTs, out-rebounded and … won on a last second layup by Grace Stone after forcing a TO on RI’s last possession.

Not a pretty win but super-impressive with their defensive intensity and grit on the offensive end when every possession was a battle. Parker Hill played great and scored 12 points to offset Julia Cunningham (5 points, fouled out) and Maddy St. Rose (2-11). Kaitlyn Chen was 10-22 (out of 62 total shots) but played her typically fearless game.

Gotta love this team, they believe in themselves and found a way to win against a quality opponent when shots weren’t falling.

I was there. All of what you say is spot on. Two terrific defensive teams going toe to toe the entire game. Like a heavy weight fight. URI an excellent shooting team overall and from three. Tigers did a great job make them work for everything. Another tough second quarter but came alive again in the second half shooting 50%.

Parker Hill definitely had the game of her career to this point. Maddy St. Rose may have made the play of the game drawing that charge with 6 secs to go giving the Tigers that last attempt which Stone cashed in. Finally, success in an end game scenario. Do we give a thank you to Abbey Meyers as Kaitlyn Chen really found her game after donning #1 due to getting blood on her uniform? A gutsy win for sure. Did our best to give it away at the free throw line.

URI came into the game ranked 83rd to Tigers 51st and is without one of its starters and best 3 pt shooters. So that was a game they should have won.

For me Princeton looked listless and their shooting from deep was atrocious. They should consider themselves very lucky to get out of that game with a W. They will need to play a lot better than that to compete with Columbia.

FWIW: One of URI’s 2 losses coming in was their opener to Harvard by double digits. Harvard, though only 7-5 has several losses to Power 5s. They should be a factor in the Ivy race this season.

Three point shooting is their weakness. It is OK at times, but not great.

This team had better not be looking ahead to the Columbia game on Jan. 6. They play at Harvard on Saturday. As mentioned above, Harvard beat URI 88-74 in the first game of the season, when URI had Dolly Cairns, who did not play yesterday. Harvard's big three of Turner, Forbes and Mullaney scored 71 of the 88 points.

I think they are still trying to figure out how to play without Abby Meyers. St. Rose - two-time Player of the Year in New Jersey - apparently is not the shooter Abby is, even though she takes a lot of shots. After 11 games, she is 5 of 36 from the arc (13.9%). The alleged #19 recruiting class in the nation has given us nothing so far. If they beat Harvard, that will be a big plus, but they still have a lot of work to do.

Very nice to see Parker Hill have a strong game yesterday. If Paige Morton cannot get it done, Hill needs to step up as a reliable big.

Harvard came closer to beating the Tigers than any Ivy team in the Berube era. That was last year in the tournament at Harvard. This team and this coach are definitely not losing focus on the task at hand. I can't see the Crimson scoring 88 against the Tigers. That said, this team has yet to establish its identity. They can defend enough to keep them in games but they need to score better than yesterday. Chet Nweke can help if she can get back on the floor. St. Rose needs to find her stroke. I am certain Berube is encoursging her to take shots, but for this team to win, she has to start making them. That charge she took at the end of the game was huge.
Dei Lynam was doing the color on the ESPN+ broadcast. Early in the game, when it was apparent this was going to be a defensive struggle, she suggested that the first team to reach 55 would win. How prophetic!

An interesting point in this year's Ivy season is none of the top 4 teams actually play a traditional big besides Princeton. It will be worth watching whether this is seen as an advantage by the Tigers or if they downsize to match the other teams.

To a certain extent. When Parker Hill was in, she scored all of her points in classic big-man plays: either screened and rolled for easy layups, or got an entry pass on the low block and put it in. She looked comfortable. Paige Morton doesn't have that level of comfort or confidence. And for some reason, they don't run those kinds of plays for Ellie Mitchell. Maybe because she doesn't have the soft touch needed for in-close shots. Her touch was way off yesterday, only scored 1 basket all game.

No mention of the fact that Chet Nweke didn't play. Injury?

Without Chet, Connolly's getting starter minutes off the bench; with Nweke out and Cunningham in foul trouble the Tigers were nearly very exposed against URI.

Tigers definitely have some things they need to work on...obviously the outside shooting isn't what it was with Meyers there. The last two games, Mitchell has been in a terrible shooting slump. And St. Rose has yet to prove she can shoot at this level.

Saturday's game will be on ESPN News; I'll be attending the men's game and then watching the women's game on delay while awaiting New Year's guests.

Speaking of Meyers, ESPN-W has a new list out on the most impactful transfers this season. Abby comes in at #7, moving up from #18 on an early season list. ". . . More importantly, Meyers has been the glue for Maryland, leading the team in minutes and serving as a solid complement to Diamond Miller." Interestingly, she actually averaged the fewest minutes of the 5 starters last year, but she has adapted to a new role with the Terps.
