Perhaps wary of the outcome of Yale's Saturday trip to NYC, Cornell traveled to Hanover and returned home with the Ivy League's first road breakthrough win of the young season.

The final score does not indicate the actual closeness of this game. It was a back-and-forth two-score affair until the first media timeout of the second half. A four minute 12-3 run, punctuated by two treys from JR Max Watson and five Dartmouth TO's, produced a ten point Big Red lead they defended successfully the rest of the way. The final score was the largest lead of the afternoon for either team.

Ten men played at least 13 minutes for Cornell. As one watched the game, you got the idea that this sort of depth is most helpful during the final 8-10 minutes of the second half.

It is also worth noting that 5-6 FT shooting during the last two minutes secured the W. After showing early season weakness from the stripe, the Red has made FT's at a 78% clip over their past four games, with three players now shooting 74+% for the season. Keeping this up will make holding late leads a bit easier.

Looking forward to this weekend's "traditional" homecourt back-to-back with the tough and talented P's, as an early indicator of how the season might unfold.

It was Cornell's least efficient game on offense (not counting games v. ACC opponents). Was that a one-off --- hardly the first team to struggle at Hanover -- or an indication of what league play will be like?

Dartmouth shot 68% from inside the arc and Cornell really struggled with Adelekun. That's not a good sign for games with Harvard, Princeton and Yale (or anybody really). Cornell pulled it out thanks to 20 Dartmouth turnovers and Ryan Cornish going 0-8 from behind the arc.

Still, a road win is nice.
