On Saturday night, the Tigers come to town in a game that, should Yale win it, would pull the Tigers back into the pack and would more or less complete the righting of the ship that Yale so desperately needed after starting 0-2.
I think the matchup will be decided on the defensive end, and who can guard whom. Yale's biggest tests will be keeping a lid on Tosan and limiting open looks for Princeton's backcourt. Princeton's challenges will be handling Mbeng dribble drives (because I don't think any Princeton guard is quick enough to guard him straight-up) and being physical through Yale's cuts and screens.
Should be a good one.

Tigers will be physical. But Yale is superbly poised for a win at home.

Even though I fully support Ivy Madness (with a change or two), it makes a game like this much less pivotal, especially for Princeton.
A road loss to Yale is no a big deal. We'd still be in 1st place (alone or tied with Cornell) with 5 of our last 7 at home. Yale obviously needs this game far more than we do, but even a loss isn't a back-breaker.
The 4th place team could easily be 8-6 or even 7-7, which is doable for Yale even with 5 of their last 7 on the road. Then anything can happen in a 2-game tourney.

In semirelated news, Yale is honoring the 2001-02 Ivy League champion team at the game this Saturday. That team beat Princeton twice in three tries (since there was a three-team tie at the top of the league, they met in the playoff), so this seems like a good game for a reunion.

the home game against princeton in 2002 was so fun...
the playoff against penn not so much.
but given what Kuch left the fan support back then was off the hook.
man, i am old.

it would be nice if the fans came out on Saturday like they used to be.
penn appeared to be a step in the right direction.

Basketball between two good teams is fun to watch regardless of whether the game is do-or-die, especially if you have a rooting interest. No offense, but I think the idea that the 14GT days were the only ones in which people cared about games like this is not really true (and I say that as someone who preferred the old way).
The players certainly care - you get rings for the regular season championship, after all.

I care, and I am a tourney-phobe. Always want to beat Yale, especially now that Jones has had such a good record against PU. Being tested against good teams is fun.

I care as well. These battles against the Bulldogs in recent years have been wars. It hurts like hell that Jones has gotten the best of us more often that not. A Tiger win would be an upset on the road. I believe Yale is #99 in the KenPom rankings while the Tigers are close behind, maybe #105.
Looking ahead to the tournament from 6 weeks away we do not yet have a handle on the field. Regardless of which 4 teams qualify seeding will not matter too much, since any team can beat any other.

I'm definitely excited for the game. But I'm excited because I think it's gonna be really fun, not because it's make-or-break or an accurate preview of an Ivy Tourney game at Jadwin.

Well obviously, if Yale wins, then the game is a perfect preview of the ILT. If Yale loses, then obviously it was a fluke caused by bad reffing

I certainly care. My post was a facetious dig at the value of the damn tourney that awards its winner that which should belong to the League Champion — the right to represent the Ivy League at the NCAA Tournament. I wonder which alternative a player would choose if he could have either, but no both, the 14 game Ivy League Championship trophy or the 2 victory Ivy League Tournament trophy with a spot in the NCAA Tournament. I am guessing more players would opt for the latter. If so, I believe that our values are confused.

It's hard to lose a game where you score 1.45 points per possession (though Cornell might try it at some point), and Yale finally finds itself on the good end of a hot shooting night. Yale had a lot of good spots on defense, limiting most of Princeton's starters to poor nights. Blake Peters shot exceptionally well, but on a night where Mbeng was doing his best Steph Curry impersonation, it just wasn't enough.
Phenomenal win for the Bulldogs, who now are just a game back of first. The upcoming H/D road weekend will tell us a lot about what Yale can expect down the stretch.

Also a nice detail - since Princeton's undefeated Ivy League title, Princeton and Yale have played 9 times. Yale has won 7 of those meetings. Mitch Henderson has swept the season series with Yale exactly once in his coaching tenure. Yale has swept Princeton 4 times over the same span.

i would settle for consistent 40% from 3p
Bust/boom appears to be more the norm for these guys!
It’s kinda different from investing-you know the lumpy 15 vs the smooth 12% Per annum
