40-35 lead at the break.
A really fun back-and-forth game with Dartmouth bringing the defense early. That knocked us off our game but have since recovered. Langborg coming up big, which is great to see. Feels like another nail-biter. Dartmouth needs this game and they're not going away.
Second half, we gotta get the ball inside and let Tosan go to work. Defensively, I don't mind not doubling Adelekun once he's near the basket. He can score over 2 of our guys and Dartmouth is hitting 3s today.

Tiger 40-35 at the half.
Very tight game.
Cornish scoreless so far but Adelekun and Neskovic are shooting 10-14 and Dartmouth is moving the ball well. They seemed to have the upper hand for most of the half but then Princeton asserted itself in the last 5 minutes.
For the Tigers Allocco and Deven Austin are also scoreless and for the first 10 minutes or so Tosan had trouble getting his shots and when he did, he missed. He then came to life and Pierce and Langborg went 6-9 for 3FGs and that why Princeton took the lead.
Have to believe that most of the above will revert to the mean in 2H.

Big Green score 9 straight to retake the lead. That’s 19-0 for the start of the two halves. Concerned that has become a thing for this team.

When the Tigers are down, everything goes wrong. Defensive lapses, terrible turnovers, cold shooting. Yikes! Down 8.

Dartmouth out-hustling us on both ends. Rebounding and defense fell off a cliff.
Big Green fighting for their season and our guys are stuck in neutral.

Feels like the Yale game. I was expecting a nail-biter but this one looks done. This team has a real problem with motivation and focus - they don't "need" this game and it shows.

Agreed. Sadly, the Tigers don’t look they really want it today. They’re not fighting for loose balls or fighting through screens, taking some lazy shots, etc. Peter’s is lights out when he gets the ball in shooting position. Not so much when the pass isn’t perfect and he shoots off the dribble. Game is getting out of control. Down 15.

Even as a supporter of Ivy Madness (it gets more teams involved), I admit these games are the cost. Win and we're still in first. Lose and we're... tied for first.

6 quick points to cut to 9 then a defensive lapse then a lazy offensive foul. Uggh. Hard to watch. Not sure why Mitch doesn’t throw a full course press at Dartmouth. They have nothing to lose and a week off to recover. I thing else is working.

There’s the press. Tigers get a couple of turnovers and are back in this. Need to make their free throws and they have a chance.

Comeback effort falls short. The press worked like a charm again, but MH didn't use it until too late. For some reason, he still hasn't adjusted to Saturday Ivy refs - they don't call light contact. Another bad FT shooting game didn't help either.
The loss won't have much of an effect on Princeton's seeding/matchups, but it's still disappointing to see such poor energy on "non-essential" games. Hats off to Dartmouth - they needed it more and it showed. We got outworked on both ends.

To paraphrase Yogi Berra, if a team doesn't want to show up motivated for the whole game, people can't stop them.

For better or worse, it's all about the tourney. Allocco and Langborg really need to step it up as upperclassmen. Tosan and Caden showed up tonight - no one else did.

I don’t understand why this team can look so determined one moment and then can seem so unmotivated the next. They’ve played like this all season with the early games where they fell way behind then played all out late in the game to almost win. (Of course the Yale game was the exact opposite.)

Just watched it. Yes, the Tigers looked sluggish a lot. Yes, the officials jobbed PU repeatedly by not calling fouls that even the Dartmouth announcing crew saw. Yes, my love of the 1-3-1 zone was once again vindicated (use it before it's too late sometime).
But...the story of the game was pretty much bad FT shooting and bad three-point shooting by the Tigers, especially in the second half. 13-20, including a bunch of missed front-ends, and 9-30 from three, would only cut it if the opponent were similarly struggling. But the Big Green were 18-19 at the foul line and 9-21 from three.

Yes, the FT was glaring.
Long road trip to spend 2 hours playing like that.

Dartmouth is a tough match-up for us.
Hoped we don't see them again at Jadwin.
If we do, it might make sense to playKellman
more. Adelekun is too strong for anyone else.
We need a split this home weekend against
two teams that beat us at their places.
A win against Yale would boost confidence for
March.

This year’s Tigers have a lot of ways to beat you but are not good enough to withstand off nights by Langborg and Allocco. They got plenty of good looks and in 1H they hit them but the 2H was a different story. 100% agree that Dartmouth in particular is a tough match-up, hoping that the ”friendly confines” next weekend (and in the ILT) will produce better results from the 3-point and foul lines.
