In a couple of recent interviews, Griffith has said that there will be as many as seven international players on the team next year. We have four now; does anyone know anything about the three new international recruits?

This is in addition, of course, to Riley Weiss, the second coming of Abby Hsu, who has scored 50 pts. in a Florida hs game.

These are the 4 known recruits. Might be others, or late commits.

Olivia Cooper, 6'1 Pickerington Central HS, Ohio

Emily Montes, 5'10" Palmer Trinity, Florida

Thanks--that is very helpful. But unless the other recruits came here from an overseas hs, only Tor Blau is from Spain, and Griffith, who is specifically marketing Columbia/New York as the "International Ivy League," is still hinting at two more foreign players

Maybe we'll just have to wait until the summer announcement. But if anyone sees any new info please do share....

I knew about Cooper, Montes, and Weiss... all three announced their commitment to Columbia via Twitter.

Cooper and Weiss were 2023 McDonald's All-American nominees. Nearly 400 women were selected, and some are not playing D1, so take it with a grain of salt.

I didn't know about Cabezas... not many freshman have international experience, so it'll be interesting to see if she's in the rotation come November.

If two of these freshmen can contribute significantly next year, that would help offset the loss of seven (7!) seniors... KD, Patrick, Pratt, etc.

Potential starting lineup for 23/24:
Hsu (Sr)
Henderson (Jr)
Lauder (Sr)
Page (Soph)
Comesana (Jr)

Coming off the bench:
Lobon (Sr)
Raifu (Soph)
Stephens (Sr)

The bench doesn't appear too strong at this point, so the freshmen will certainly have an opportunity to get playing time next year.

I agree with you, except that I think Weiss might well squeeze into the starting lineup and I am not sure whether the center is more likely to be Comesana or Raifu.

For sure... I could easily see one of the freshman breaking into the starting lineup and hopefully Raifu improves her game this summer and gives Griffith more options... she doesn't look quite ready to play a key role yet.

Agreed. The best I've seen of Raifu was yesterday, when she contributed more than she has before. Comesana was also a work in progress, but who knows when post-injury she will be able to get back on the court, and how much she will have improved during her year away?

I watched some of the Spain/France FIBA semi-final and the Spain/USA final played last July... the game flow resembled a high-level D1 game.

Blau Tor was not Spain's best player by any means, but she looks very solid on both ends of the floor. She was very active with good footwork, seems to have a good vision of the floor (passed to teammates without hesitation), and has a quick release of her 3-pt shot. It's likely she will see a lot of playing time right away next season considering the loss of Davis, Pratt and Patrick.

Apparently Kitty Henderson's sister Fliss (for Felicity) has committed to the Lions for 2023.

This from "Aussie Basketball Traveler"

FLISS HENDERSON - CLASS OF 2023

"NSW Junior Fliss Henderson committed to Columbia University for the class of 2023 after her 2019 Elite Girls Tour with All Aussie Travellers. She will join her sister Kitty Henderson. Fliss played on the U20’s State Team as well as attending the U17 Australian High Performance Camp."

YES! Griffith mentioned this in her post game interview.

If she can play as well as her sister, we'll have a fine back court.
