This appears to ignore recent trends. If I were a betting man, I would take Dartmouth, Brown and Penn and stay far away from Harvard-Columbia.

But I'm not.

harvard -9.5 COLUMBIA now 10 o/u 138

I like all the underdogs, especially the big ones.
Columbia at +410 and Brown at +235 worth a look

Cornell usually a solid over bet given all their 3's and fouls. I also think Penn goes over because they have to if they want to win.

Big spreads for how most of these gamers have been going.
The only game where picking the winner probably gets you
paid is Yale at Penn. Yale is on a roll, so that is the only one I touch.

Yale indeed has played very well since their terrible start. Penn presents them with some matchup problems. Will be a fun game at the Palestra.

What matchup problems do you think Penn presents Yale with? I don't know if I can think of any obvious ones (other than Dingle, but I'm not sure there's a team out there who wouldn't struggle with him).

I think Spinoso will give Jarvis trouble. His offensive game has been improving dramatically. I would have also said Slajchert, but whatever injury he has, has simply taken away his game. So George Smith will get major minutes tonight. A key may be if Martz is hitting his 3s, which he did not do at Yale. I also don't think you'll see the turnover disparity which essentially handed Yale that first game.

Hmm. I disagree about Spinoso - Jarvis is a very good defensive player. But the three-point shooting I agree with. Of course, that match-up issue cuts both ways. If Mahoney and Poulakidas are hitting, Yale is very tough to guard.

As was pointed out elsewhere the other question is how Penn
deals with a healthy Knowling.

When was he injured--he's played in every game with consistent minutes?

He was injured for about all of December, from the Butler game until the Columbia game. Based on watching him, it took a bit to get back on his feet, but he's been on a tear recently.

My guess is that Lucas Monroe will match up with him.

I was traveling and missed the thread, but I’ll give some answers. Penn has matched up well with Yale in recent years. Can’t really pinpoint why, other than the observation that, within reason, we match up better with more athletic teams. This year, Penn has struggled with teams that can play big at the 3 position. So Yale’s group of guards is easier for Penn to match up against simply based on size, as compared to Dartmouth or Princeton, for instance.

On who guards Knowling, Martz has had primary responsibility for Tosan, Ledlum, and Knowling this year. I doubt they’d have gone away from that, even if Knowling hadn’t gotten hurt. Martz has done a good to great job in all of those matchups except Tosan. So some of that is Martz, but some of it is that Monroe is a better match with Poulakidas than Martz (if Martz doesn’t cover Knowling, he has to cover a smaller guard).

what a bad beat if you had Dartmouth, they go to OT and then get blown out to lose

It is even more maddening when you realize that Dame Adelekun, shooting 6-10 for the season from long range and having already hit his only 3pt try in this game, had a completely open look from 24ft that rattled off the rim with 0:01 left in regulation.

I did and it was. At least I had the over.

Anyone check out the box score of Harvard - Columbia? That rebounding line is crazy.
