Hey, the mid-80s teams weren't so bad, after all!

Only the first 2 years. Other than that, it was much much better

Does mid-80s mean after Little/Brown and before Allen?

You can thank the AI changes of 1979 for that dead period.

The Lefko teams had their moments. After Lefko, watching Hoss operate was probably the one good excuse for attending a Penn game.

What, watching Jerry Simon and Sean Dineen cook didn't get your blood pumping?

That's a rhetorical question, no?

It was worth the price of admission to watch Hoss score his usual 20 while moving up and down the court at pace all his own, with his belly flopping out from underneath his jersey and over his waistband. He was the one Penn player who was envious of George Noon's vertical leap.

The rest of the team was painfully unwatchable.

Congratulations to Perry on this well-deserved, and long delayed, honor.
I recall Dick Vitale saying at the time that no other player in the country was so far above the talent in his league than Perry. He could have contributed to Penn's best teams in any era, he was that good.
