On quite a roll.

Has been dancing twice as a Quaker player, twice as a Quaker assistant coach, 4 times as a Temple assistant coach, and now a fourth (straight) time as a Colgate head coach.

Matt has many accomplishments which you have set forth. But, in 2020, Colgate lost at home to Boston University in the Patriot League championship game. The Covid cancellation of the 2020 NCAA tournament is the reason you can now say that Matt has taken Colgate to the NCAA tournament four straight times.

I recall that some didn't think too highly of him among the candidates in the Penn coaching tree. I always thought he'd make a good coach. I have never even talked to the guy - it is based on his intelligence as a player. He wasn't flashy, but he never made mistakes. He was a fantastic shooter and was a decent threat to fake the three and drive down the baseline. He was very effective and understood his role. He always seemed to know where the ball should go next. I don't know his situation at Colgate, but he's clearly done something right. I felt the same way about Toole and to some degree Bowman.

I would think he would start getting offers from bigger schools that will be hard to turn down. Good for him. His first few seasons show why you can't always give up early on a coaching hire.

Coach K was the extreme example of that doctrine.

Just wondering - is the Ivy League or Patriot League considered a better league for a coach?

I saw some of the Patriot final and noticed that Langel had really used the transfer portal. Couldn't do that in the IL, really.

He's been mentioned for the Georgetown opening. I don't know if he has Big East recruiting/coaching skills or not, but I guess I'd support this move!

Would love to see Pitino back in action too. College basketball is just more fun with him. I don't know enough about his past infractions to comment.

Langel just signed a long term contract extension last year that takes him through 2030. Their oldest kid hasn’t reached HS yet and I’ve heard secondhand that they’re pretty settled in the community there, so I’m guessing it would take a really big # to pry him loose.
