I don't bet. What does this actually mean? ETA: does +10 mean if Princeton scores 65 points, you consider their score to be 75 for the purposes of the bet?

Creighton is a 10 point favorite and if you want to be total points over or under, that is the betting number.

What do our gambling friends think of those numbers?

I don't waste money gambling and don't believe in it, but if you were to spot Princeton 10 points at the beginning of this game, we'll win.

Remember the line is set more to balance bets so the house does not lose money, rather than to predict the final score margin. Sounds like they are getting (or expecting) more money coming in on Creighton with such a large number.

Henderson said Deven Austin was out for the season, but did he think the season would still be going now? Is there any hope that he is able to be ready this weekend?

I believe Deven needs surgery. ACL.

Docs please correct me if wrong, but I gather that ACL recovery can be 8-12 months, so this would likely mean he does not play next year (and has he had the surgery already?). Plus it can take longer to get back to former level of play even after "recovery".

If so, obviously a significant impact on 23-24 season.

Sports Health Nov. 2013 looking at NBA players:

"There is a high RTS rate in the NBA following ACLR. Nearly all players RTS the season following surgery. Performance significantly declined from preinjury level; however, this was not significantly different from controls. ACL re-tear rate was low."

I hope there has been some improvement in treatment
in the last 10 years. I hope his youth helps.
Athleticism is Deven's strength, so hope his
recovery is quick and full. I had thought he
could be the team's star.

I could not find another reference relating specifically to basketball. I did find this more recent comment:

The Knee, vol. 34, 1/1/22:
In addition, there is biomechanical and epidemiological evidence to suggest that there is increased loading of the contralateral limb when athletes RTP after ACLR due to perceived compensation

I do not know how bad the injury might be. I asked Austin if he expected to be back next year and he said yes. But, of course, one would expect him to say that. We met briefly at Jadwin during the ILT. As of that time he had not yet had surgery.

Thanks. It looks like a long road back.
I wish him the best. He is a talented, high-energy player.
