An extra year at Princeton for free and a Masters degree does sound like more than a door prize.
However, I have felt for the kids who were in college for the past 3 years. What a lousy time compared to back when we were throwing beer kegs out windows ...
As fate would have it, I recently watched the Brooke Shields documentary "Pretty Baby."
She only devotes about five minutes to her Princeton days. But she made clear that other than the usual anxieties of being on her own for the first time (like most of us), she really, really, really enjoyed her Princeton days. She didn't say whether she went crazy on kegs at the eating clubs, but she did say that she made good friends and a lot of personal growth.
So kudos for Princeton in that regard.
She also strongly implied that Columbia rejected her.
