So who will start at PG? I think this is a major issue. Rivera is a great passer and a true pass first PG in the half court game and a great leader. However, she dosn’t seem well suited to the fast break type of offense we were running so successfully earlier in the season, really can’t shoot very well, and is not a good defender. Based on the way Durr has been playing I would like to see her start and have Davis play the point. However, Coach Griffith knows what she is doing and if she thinks we play better with Rivera starting so be it.

Did I miss something? Why wouldn't Henderson play PG? She has scored 15 and 13 pts in her last two games, with lots of assists and plenty of rebounds. Rivera can give her a few minutes of breathing time, but since she has also all the deficits you've listed, she shouldn't start.
I am little puzzled by the pt. spread, which after citing stats showing that Columbia scores more pts and gives up fewer, then lists BG as a 7 pt. favorite 74-67. Of course, this is the same website that said Florida would beat BG. Since BG went on to win by 17 pts, perhaps there is something the matter with their algorithm???

The Lions went from a good team to a great team when Henderson took over Rivera’s role and minutes. Rivera has many nifty no-look passes in her highlight reel, but Henderson can do so many things that Rivera can’t (do as well), such as rebound on both ends, defend, and finish in the paint.

I don't get it either. Of course, Kitty Henderson will start for us at point guard tonight with Carly Rivera coming off the bench as needed. My feelings are that Bowling Green are very similar teams, but Bowling Green has to be considered the favorite because it has the home team advantage. Columbia is a good road team, but I do not believe the Lions have ever played in an atmosphere like they will see tonight. My biased prediction is the Columbia will win tonight by seven points

A less cockeyed prediction has the pt. spread down to BG minus 1.5.
The arena is sold out: 4000 fans who hate the visitors is an entirely different experience, but one which Kitty Henderson says, in a wonderfully contrarian tweet, is something that Columbia will draw energy from.
Nationally, we're 13th to their 19th in offense, and 134th to their 156th in defense. Since we have consistently beaten higher ranked teams than they have, I don't see why we can't disappoint 4000 home court fans.

Wonder if Henderson will be matched up against BG's guard, Elissa Brett (#5), who is also an Aussie. She's the one who got punched out in the handshake line after BG beat Memphis. At times she guarded the Memphis player who punched her and mixed it up on a few plays.

Not to brag, but my prediction that Columbia would defeat Bowling Green by seven points seems to have worked out fairly well. Great Basketball Game. Congratulations to the Columbia Women's Basketball Team and their very special coach, Megan Griffith.

37p6 nailed it! I hope you have a similarly optimistic prediction for Kansas.
There are several thousand BG fans who are now going to consign, forevermore, their orange Beat Columbia t-shirts to the back of their bottom drawer.

Yes, looks like Columbia vs Kansas in the final. Jayhawks up 48-28 to start the 4th Qtr.

Jackson, Kansas's center, is 6'6" and a Naismith defensive semi-finalist. We can probably contend with the guards, but Griffith is going to have to figure out how to contend with their center.

She’s going to be a problem… don’t think the Lions have faced someone that tall in the paint this year.
Plus it’s at Allen Fieldhouse.
This one feels like Davis vs Goliath.

To be realistic, I'm not sure how we win this one. They're a 37 WNET, we're a 47 WNET, and we play them away.
If Griffith can figure out this one, merely COY for the Ivy League will not do her justice.

Very impressive performance on the road on front of a jacked up and quite hostile crowd. BG was never in it although they closed to 2 points a couple of times. The Lions always had an answer. Congrats to the Lions for a deep run in a post season affair regardless of what happens at Kansas

Move Davis out twelve feet where she hits jumpers and force their center to cover her away from the basket. Then, in addition to our usual fast paced offense, run backdoor cuts as often as possible. If we can't outrebound them, maybe we can outrun them.
A plausible strategy?

Lions struggled a bit with BG's post game yesterday until they went to a zone in the second half and forced BG to shoot 3s, which they didn't do very well (20% on 25 attempts). Kansas only took 12 3s yesterday, so maybe a similar scheme will work with them.

I'm beginning to feel a little more optimistic. Kansas averages one ppg less than Bowling Green on defense (62 instead of 63), but 5 pts less on offense (72 instead of 77).
We beat BG there by 7. Kansas' defense will make this a lower scorer game, but their weaker offense may still make them beatable.

It probably won't come about, but if I had to make an optimistic prediction, I'd go way out on a limb and say Columbia by 3, 70-67.

I haven’t seen a point spread on this game, but it must be at least double digits. Kansas beat Washington by 25, Arkansas by 14, and Missouri by 28 in this tournament, all at Allen Fieldhouse. Their closest game was Nebraska by 9.

Doing some Googling, it appears that Allen Fieldhouse is one of the loudest venues in college basketball. Has anyone attended a game there?
I believe this Lions team will be the first Ivy basketball team to play a game in April.

I have been there. A great but intimidating venue.
Basketball in April in a meaningful game against
hoops royalty is a great achievement.
Congratulations to the woman for playing on.
Good luck on closing out a great season in style!
