...has been dominating for the Israel U20 team in the FIBA Euro Championship. Great sign for the Bulldogs at the one position where they lost anyone from last year. 23-24 is shaping up to be the Year of Yale, especially after Dingle transferred.

Israel does their best against a strong France team, but falls in OT 89-79. Danny Wolf with 21 and 16 with 4 assists and 3 blocks. Fantastic tournament for him.
France's starting center (Maxime Raynaud) started for Stanford last year as a sophomore.

i watched it on replay.
The big change w baby jokic is his rebounding. He was a beast all tournament long.
he has always had great ball skills for a 7 footer. But reshaping his body and improved footwork seems to have really helped.
the front line from France was big athletic and much deeper and theoretically better rested bc they blew everyone else out. I think wolf got worn down on his jumpers.
but he battled and boarded until the end. strong kid

going forward...the big q w danny. can he become more consistent shooting the 3 ball. he has developed a quick release. now he needs to be consistent.
he needs a couple quality post moves besides the dirk turnaround which has a high dod.
can he get more vertical lift in the paint. i dont think he has the length of jokic though he has the height.
what you cant teach:
unreal passing instincts
good feet and hands. has helped in rebounding and general movement with/out the ball. i think he has worked on this and his strength which is inflecting
he is becoming a matchup nightmare. his ultimate effectiveness in power 5 matchups will be determined by range and lift i think
he is only 19. you cant increase his vert by 10 inches but at his size 2-4 and a quick jump would do wonders.

lastly my prediction on bez mbeng in like his 1st game in blue is going to be my best call.
i think as he goes yale goes this year.
if he improves his jumper slightly y/y he cld make this thing really go.
it will be very hard to defend the floor spacing. you add a wolf and hopefully a samson backup for rim protection. aletan shld be immediately elite on the penetration/lob game.
the offense shld evolve and be more vertical assuming you respect bezs jumper.
my hope is also that knowling shows more range as well.
should be an exciting year if we stay healthy.

Just got the latest email updates from the school I attended from K through 8th grade (Solomon Schechter Day School, Chicago). Apparently Wolf is a fellow alum—there was a nice write up of his experience on the Israeli team. I knew he was from Glencoe, one town away from where I grew up, but did not realize he had attended Jewish day school.
