Chris Ledlum left Tennessee basketball before playing a game with the Vols.
Ledlum, who transferred from Harvard to Tennessee in May, re-entered the transfer portal Thursday, a UT spokesperson confirmed.
Ledlum averaged 18.8 points and 8.5 rebounds as a senior for the Crimson in the 2022-23 season. The 6-foot-6 forward was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection. He took an official visit to UT on April 13-15. The Brooklyn, New York, native also visited Indiana and St. John's before committing to Tennessee on April 19.
Ledlum did not participate in Tennessee's practice Tuesday while dealing with an undisclosed injury. The Vols are going on a 10-day international trip to Italy in early August that will include three games.

UT's best player, who's the same position as Ledlum, entered the NBA draft then opted to return to school. So he wasn't going to play.

Wow. Just Wow. I may watch some Storm this year. I grew up in Queens and saw a lot of then Redmen games at Alumni Hall with Louie---the Whopper, Sonny Dove, Joe DePre and Johnny Warren--my introduction to college basketball.

I would be shocked if Dingle struggles for PT and I think Ledlum will become a fixture in the rotation as well. They are pretty stacked though. Will be an interesting team to watch. Pitino had former Penn G Tony Hicks at Louisville, who was a high volume scorer, and managed him into a role that was effective in the 1 year there.
Dingle and Ledlum are a different level than Hicks was…..

both Dingle and Ledlum will need to adjust to not being
the "man" in the offense, and will have to step up their defensive effort. I think both are capable, but the jury is out.

Pitino was “all in” on Dingle. He might still be “the man” at St Johns. We’ll see. Definitely will have to play more defense though both Dingle and Ledlum were top 10 in steals.

I hope you're right, but Pitino is the kind of guy who is all about winning and if there is another player he recruited he thinks can help him more than Dingle, Dingle will sit. Pitino has brought in some highly regarded players playing the same position.

In the 16-17 season at Louisville, Hicks averaged 10 minutes, 3.7 points and 0.8 assists. In the 3 prior years at Penn Tony averaged 26.3 minutes and 12.8 PPG.

None of the other Guards that transferred in are close to Dingle in terms of production and efficiency. He had a 112.7 ORAT with 32% usage and 54.6% eff FG last year. And he shot 36% from 3 and 86% FT. And he had 23 games of 20+ pts. None of the others were even close.
The others at StJ:
Cruz Davis, Iona, 97.5 ORAT, 19% usage, 47% eff FG
Sean Conway, VMI, 105.8 ORAT, 21% usage, 48.8% eff FG
Nahiem Alleyn, UConn, 104 ORAT, 15% usage, 44.4% eff FG
RJ Luis, UMass, 100 ORAT, 26.4% usage, 48.8% eff FG
And for reference:
Ledlum, Harvard, 104 ORAT, 31% usage, 52.3% eff FG
DIngle was recruited to be the guy at St Johns.

From what I've read, Jenkins is also on the roster. Dingle is apparently the key to the offense. If you bring in the second leading scorer in D1, you're probably not looking at him as a role player.
We shall see how this turns out. There are about 10 new players on the roster and almost no returning players. Molding those individuals into a team, and doing so quickly may not be so simple.

Well, we’ll see. There are lots of instances where a 20+ scorer at a mid major goes up to a high major and doesn’t fill a lead scorer role. I assume, like you do, that Dingle was brought in to be the primary guard scorer. But sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. Jenkins in particular would be an issue because you could see a scenario where Pitino would prefer to have only one of them on the floor, and Jenkins has played for Pitino, passes better, and is a high efficiency high usage player. But I’m not positive Jenkins is on the roster — there are places where he is not listed. I agree that Jordan’s path looks pretty clear without Jenkins.

Jenkins has to finish his degree at Iona (according to reports it will happen in August) as he could then play at St. John’s as a grad transfer. If he doesn’t finish, he will have to sit a year as a 2nd time transfer under the new rules.
St Johns, with Jenkins, has 14 scholarship players for 13 slots. So either one of the new guys will sit or not show, or Pitinio has NIL money lined up to cover the extra player.
Regardless, Jenkins is a 108.7 ORAT with 26% usage and 48% eff FG, still lower than Dingle, but his exceptional passing and understanding of Pitino’s systems will keep him on the floor.
