We lose by 3 78-75, when KenPom had us winning by 6.

We are going to drop to near 300 in KenPom; I fear that once again, it is going to be a long and disappointing season.

I caught the game on SNY last night. I thought Columbia's overall team defense wasn't great. The guards, Brown, De La Rosa, Noland and McLean, played well. Odunowo played as well as I've seen him play, and he pretty much kept CU in the game towards the end. He's what, 6'6"? If he's the best option at the 5, CU has problems. I don't think any D1 team in the country, even in the Ivies, can play that small consistently unless the guards and wings are much, much better. Bedri just isn't very good. Defensively, he wasn't effective against a skilled 6'10" opponent who wasn't a physical bruiser, and it always looked as if his rotation as a help defender was a step or two too slow. His offense hasn't progressed at all. He's still tentative in the post and doesn't have a reliable move he can go to in order to score easily.

I have to give the team credit for fighting their way out of a pretty deep deficit and giving themselves a chance to win, even though they ran out of gas at the end.

I agree about Bedri; I thought by now, he would have developed more. Also, not that he would have been a savior, but Tavroff, our biggest player, was once again in the bench in street clothes.

We lost because we don't have any interior defense. What's more, we will continue to lose unless this problem is remedied.

This is why I think Richard Nweke being out for the entire season is probably the nail in the coffin for Engles' time on Morningside Heights. From everything I read, Nweke projected to be a solid interior defender and a solid rebounder. Not saying he was going to single-handedly turn around Columbia's interior defense, but I think he would've helped. Without him, you pretty much have to run back the same line-up that has been unable to defend the rim or the offensive glass for the past two seasons.

Surprised Arop Arop hasn't gotten any floor time yet - seems like his length might help improve the situation.

Yes to your first paragraph, no to your second.

Arop Arop is 6'10 and weighs 185. If a ball came to him, great, but he ain't going to push anyone around.

Strange how people have been calling for Mark Fabish to get canned after 1 year while Engles just keeps rolling along.
