Hard to know what to make of him from YouTube. He looks like he is skilled and knows how to play the game. His competition did not look strong from the on-line videos. You could convince me that he is the second coming of Matt Langell, but you could also convince me he is the next Esformes. If the team wanted him, I'm happy to have him aboard.

York HS is in a conference with some of the largest schools in the state.

Probably the most famous basketball school in that conference is Proviso East which has won many state basketball championships (highest level in the state) and featured players such as Jim Brewer, Doc Rivers, Michael Finley, and Dee Brown, among numerous others.

York is not exactly known as a basketball school, but safe to say that Levine faced some legit competition.

On most lists he is a top 20 player in the state of IL, which typically is very rich in basketball talent. Odds are high that this kid is legit.

Sounds great. There weren't a ton of videos out there. It may have been a sample set of 2 teams/opponents and that may have been particularly weak competition. Like I said, it left a wide range of possibilities. Glad to hear he has likely stood up against strong competition. His skills looked good.

Against Glenbrook South, which is not exactly Little Sisters of the Poor. It's very legit competition.

From the article:

“He expects me to come in and be able to lead the team, run the show on offense, handle the ball, and score it when I need to,” Levine said. “He talked to me about how they haven’t really had a good point guard leader to run the show.”

Hope Clark does not read that. LOL.

Pretty sure Clark has never thought of himself as a PG.

Sounds like his floor could be a Silpe or Klatsky level rotation contributor, with his ceiling a Rosen-type who willed himself into being a scoring point by the time he was done. Or senior-year Foreman maybe.

I'd set both the ceiling and floor a couple notches lower.

There's a lot of variability in the possible outcomes.

Rosen is a rather high ceiling. Wasn't he Ivy POY, and for a team he had to put on his back?

Although Clark is playing a lot more like a point guard right now. Kind of a new phenomenon, but he is the primary ball handler, and he is finding guys off his drives much more than ever before. He’s 2nd in the Ivy in assists per game right now.

Yeah, I'm thinking Levine has a lot in common with Silpe, Klatsky, and Rosen.

Well, at least in terms of paternal ancestry at some point. No idea in terms of current identification, even though half of the contributors here are probably dying to know.

Definitely interesting that Clark is passing better than ever now, especially since he is playing with Brown who supposedly had better point guard skills than anyone else Clark as played with. Brown's shot however has been even better than advertised.

Maybe the lack of Dingle is putting the ball in Clark's hands more and as a senior he has learned more about when to pass and when to shoot.

Agree. I hope is another under the radar find that proves to be a great Penn player, and saw the notes that he is off to a good senior season start.

That said, to set expectations, he is a 6' point guard when we are already loaded up on guards, and we only just offered him like a month ago when as far as I can tell, he had one D1 offer for a local school and a D3 offer from Carnegie Mellon (hey at least they did beat Princeton that one time). By his own words, he had a "slow summer" of recruiting.

I can't emphasize enough how important this 2024 recruiting class is. The continued pattern from this staff is load up a good class every 3 years and then miss a lot in between (especially on bigs). We have a quality freshman class, but we are suffering from earlier classes that just weren't good enough.
