Anyone up for some Dragon slaying? Tigers favored by 8.5 points.
Drexel is playing good defense so far, best in their conference and 29th on KenPom.

After beating Vanillanova with a smothering defense this game is no cakewalk.
The over/under is 128 1/2.

Asking on behalf of my cardiologist: can we please hit some threes in the first half?

You are too young for that.
Now, MY cardiologist retired for undisclosed reasons. Not sure if that is an omen.

Offense looks great, flowing so much better than against Furman.
Blake continues to draw blanks, 0-4

Great stuff so far. Drexel was able to keep Pierce off the boards, but otherwise it was a pretty ideal half. Keep it up.
Lee is so much fun to watch - a human highlight reel. His smooth drives to the rim and fearless outside shooting reminds me of CJ McCollum.
Dalen Davis looks great tonight. The game has slowed down for him. I hope this is a turning point for him because I suspect we're gonna need him. Speaking of which...
Blake Peters' shooting slump continues. I just know if he makes 1 trey it'll open the floodgates. But until then, it's painful to watch. Truth is, we should be up 16+. Missed 4 wide-open, in rhythm 3s.

That spin move for the wide open lane, that unexpected dish at the end of the first half shot clock ... Lee might already be my favorite Princeton player of the last two decades.

Too many ORs given up, but a pretty good job guarding a guardable team. Tempting to really pack the D inside, but fluky run of treys would be a dumb way to lose.

Nice recovery after we lost focus up big. Credit to Drexel for not giving up. Fortunately for us, The X-Man put on a show, Pierce was money at the rim, and Davis had a breakout game.
Peters didn't open the floodgates, but snapping his 0-for streak was huge. That said, we gotta look to play Davis more if Peters can't find his stroke.
Onto St. Joe's! Hope Lee isn't sore for Sunday - he took a beating this game.

Deven Austin update from the Trentonian:
https://www.trentonian.com/2023/12/05/princeton- me...
It doesn’t sound like Deven Austin is close to returning from the ACL injury he suffered in February.
“We don’t know right now,” Henderson said. “He’s not ready yet. It’s going to be another few weeks.”
If he's available for most of Ivy play, I'll take it. Even 10-15mpg would be a big boost.

Great time at Jadwin. Xaivian Lee is worth the price of admission. Pierce had a very efficient shooting game, as did Martinj. Dalen Davis was excellent—I think we will be fine with him and Scott and Huggins—anything from Deven Austin is a bonus. Maybe Hicke will have his moments this year; maybe it’ll be next year.
One negative: 19 offensive rebounds for Drexel. Got to cut down those second chances vs St Joes.

Very strange to see us out-rebounded by such a margin. Turner for Drexel 5 OR's in 13 minutes PT!
Clearly this is a focus for them, and an offshoot of their focus of getting everyone to the hoop on offense. It's difficult to box out the entire team.
By extrapolation, one would think that each defensive rebound by us would lead to a fast break opportunity, but that's not our game, and they knew that.
In a way, I hope St. Jo is more of a perimeter shooting team.

The rebounding deficit was troubling. Drexel is big and athletic.
Some of their shots led to long rebounds, so boxing out did
not assure possession. And Pierce was so occupied trying to
keep their big man away from the lane that he could not
control the boards. Lee stepped up some, but we need
more help for Pierce on the boards.
The offense was balanced and smooth tonight. Davis had a
coming out party. He and lee are not our father's Princeton offense.

If Pete Carril had had athletes like X Lee and C Pierce, maybe this would have been our fathers’ Princeton Offense.
Guys like Billy Ryan, Chris Mooney, Mike Brennan, JT III, Moon Mullin and Gordon Enderle were very skilled passers, shooters or both. Great Tigers, all. None of them would win a foot race with Xaivian Lee.
Carril played zone with the guys from the 80s because he had to, based on the team’s (lack of) quickness. Pete would have LOVED this crew and built a system around what they brought to the court…just as Mitch has rebuilt the offense to not go through Tosan anymore.

I recall "your grandfather's Princeton offense".
Carril had such players when he first arrived, and played an uptempo style.
