As expected Tiger men overwhelmed D3 Bryn Athyn getting 72 points from the bench. Subs found it much easier to play against BA than against the first team!
Women bombed Rutgers 66-55 but the score was not indicative of the ease with which the Tigers handled the Knights. Berube's trademark, stellar defense, was very much in evidence last night.

Yes, a surprisingly stress-free win for the ladies last night. I say surprisingly because Rutgers had crushed Seton Hall earlier this season, we had to go to 2OT, and they only lost to Indiana by ten. We lost by nine. Just goes to show you how useless transitive scores can be when comparing two teams. Different day, different matchups, different results. Tigers were clicking on all cylinders coming out of the gate, starting out on a 13-0 run and never looked back. Led by 20-25 pts. for a good part of the game until a sloppy fourth quarter reduced the final to eleven. Kaitlyn Chen and Madison St. Rose were conditions normal, and Ellie Mitchell had her usual ho-hum 10 rebounds. Ashley Chea was impressive scoring a season high 13 pts. She is lightning quick and a terrific passer. As TT mentioned, the defense was superb and has been much improved since Parker Hill has been logging more court time. Regardless of her stats she has been a positive impact virtually every time she's out there. Mari Bickley was not in uniform and was wearing a mask. There were no obvious signs of injury so maybe health issues have kept her out of the lineup the past two games.

Kailyn Chen is rapidly closing in on 1,000 pts for her career needing thirteen more. Like with Carlie Littlefield and Abby Meyers, it will be painful to have to watch her use her final year of eligibility elsewhere should she choose to do so. Ellie Mitchell is also approaching 1,000 for her career, but that would be rebounds. She needs fifty-two more.

As for the men, I wish they'd can these D-III games. Nothing to be gained from them for either team.

Watching Rutgers get run out of Jadwyn was a pretty depressing undertaking. What used to be a significant WBB program now looks barely a shadow of its former glory - only 8 players in uniform and a cascade of terrible body language from those that saw the floor. Honestly, Princeton looked bored through periods of the game and seemed like margin could have been 2x/3x had they been so inclined.

I suspect Coach Berube was not pleased to see a 20-25 point lead throughout much of game into the mid-4Q dissipate to an 11-point win over the final 5 minutes, notwithstanding extensive use of the bench.

But I thought the defense looked much better during all but the final portion than it did in the Quinnipiac game.

In the NET realities of the postseason selection and seeding - having a "close" final score resulted in Princeton falling to a 45 NET from 42 and Rutgers improving to 145 from 160. The NET differential and home game for the Tigers, implied a 15-17 point win.
