Is it too soon to say that Jim Engles has finally figured it out and has put a competitive team on the floor and has upped his recruiting game? Are there any new assistants who have made an impression? The product seems much better, the game adjustments seem sensible, and the recruiting for next year looks promising. Is it too soon to start thinking about a 7-7 season?

I don't watch the Lions as much as you all do, so I can't speak to any changes in coaching. From the outside looking in, I think it's been about the team maturing. The staff has recruited relatively well for the past few years, with a noticeable uptick, in my mind, dating back to the arrival of Tobe Carberry from Yale in 2020. The past two seasons, your roster was 330th and 347th out of 363 teams in D-I experience - even if the recruits are good, it's going to be difficult to win with such an inexperienced team in a league where traditionally seniors have dominated.
I will be interested to see how y'all fare in league play - Kenpom predicts that the Lions will go 6-8 against the Ivies, so I don't see why 7-7 would be out of the question.

The team's trajectory is upward; the question is how sharply. We will certainly make the IL tournament next season, but probably not this March. That prediction doesn't exclude the possibility of one or two surprising upsets, especially as the players gain game experience. The next game at Fordham is the first fork in the road. Per KP, we are supposed to lose by 4. If we pull off an offset, then we should go at least 7 & 7 in the IL.

Now only if some of our posters can "figure it out" at least 50% of the time.
