93-75, a more dominating performance than I expected. Collins with a career high 28, followed by Henderson & Hsu with 17 each, and Raiffu with 10 point the way to our 7th straight victory.
We finish the nonconference at 9-4 and can now get ready for Princeton in three weeks.

Respectfully, I doubt that Coach G will start preparing for Princeton in Game Three until after the season opener with Penn next weekend. Last year, the Lions entered the season on a very high note only to lose to Penn by four or five points in Philly. This time the Lions will open at Levien. Important game for sure.

A convincing win on the road against a decent Pacific team. The Lions led 27-11 after the 1st Qtr and were never really threatened after that. Pacific could get no closer than a 10-pt deficit.
The Lions take a 7-game win streak into league play. They still need to improve on a few things, but Griffith has this team ready… should a fun ride over the next 14 games.

I didn't mean prepare, as in who is guarding whom. Obviously, there are 3 games before Princeton that they have to deal with. My point was simply that they should win those games, and that unless we go into the Princeton games unbeaten in the Ivy League and on a ten game win streak, the outcome of the Princeton game will be much diminished in significance.

It would be very nice if the Lions sail into the Princeton game unbeaten and on a ten game win streak, but if they lose their season opener to Penn next week that would not seem to diminish the significance of the Princeton game. If I remember correctly what happened last season, we lost our opening game to Penn at the Palestra and then split the season series with Princeton as well as defeating Penn at home. Maybe my memory is wrong. Frankly, I don't remember what exactly happened in the two League games against Harvard. In any event, I assume Coach Griffith still believes that Columbia earned the right to get a bid to the NCAA Tournament last year. So regardless of who wins the Ivy League Tournament this year, the runner-up will be entitled to a bid.

The loss at Penn last year actually came the day after an overtime win over Princeton, which surely drained the legs of all involved.

Well, they'll make the IL tournament even if they lose to Penn, but Penn at home, first game of the Ivy League season, they had better win if they want to go at least 12-2 in the IL.

Due to their current NET ranking of 66, I doubt Columbia would get an at-large bid even if they go 14-0 in the Ivy regular season.
So, that begs the question… would you rather see them go 10-4 in the regular season and win the Ivy tournament or…
Go 14-0 and lose in the championship game for all the marbles?

Understood… I feel the same way. I guess the point I was trying to make is that the number of wins in the regular season is irrelevant as long as they make it to Ivy Madness and win the tournament.
