Not to be outdone by men, women more than doubling Cornell 64-30 with about 5 minutes to play.

The best part may have been seeing Amanze back in uniform and getting some court time along with scoring her first points.

Big surprise (to me, anyway) in this game was the return of Tabitha Amanze to play 6 minutes (2 pts, 1 reb, 1 asst, 3 TOs), after appearing to have seriously injured her left ankle after only 2 minutes in the first game against Duquesne. I assumed she had been cursed with terrible bad fortune and was out for the season. She complements the junior bigs (and Taylor Charles as well) giving Carla a lot of bigs who can give good minutes. This can only strengthen the overall defense, I think.

Note: I did not see SecS3's post before I wrote this. Great minds think alike.

Saw the replay after I got home from the men’s game. Impressive 40-minute smack down.

Great to see Tabitha Amanze out there—she needs to shake off some rust but that’s understandable. If she works her way into the rotation and can stay out of foul trouble, she’s going to cause a lot of headaches for the other coaches with her length.

Fadima Tall also looked great, albeit in garbage time.

Coach Berube has a nice problem—where to find minutes for all of her players. Last year I was disappointed that we didn’t successfully recruit Riley Weiss or Abigail Wright. Now I don’t feel so bad about letting them get away.

I did likewise. Amanze definitely looked rusty but as you said, that's understandable considering all the time she's missed. However, she did impress me as being very strong and aggressive which hopefully will turn into a huge asset as she gains experience and confidence.

I visited Jadwin in October to interview Berube for IHO. The women were scrimmaging
5 on 5. Amanze was obviously a big part of Carla's plan and was a likely starter at that point. She has very little experience but a very high ceiling. She can add a dimension in the paint next to Mitchell. I hope we see a lot more of her.

A healthy Amanze will be massive for Tigers, especially since Columbia has a relatively small lineup.
