How do we see tonight’s IVY opener on the road? We’ll need good games from Brown and DLR.

We are supposed to lose our next three games (Cornell & Yale away, Princeton at home) by 10 or 11 pts. Let's hope we can cut the margin, but it would be a true upset if we won any of them.

Anyone know why this game was not scheduled on a Friday or Saturday? Not complaining, just curious about this oddity. The Ivy opener has taken place on a Friday or Saturday (more common) in January for as long as I can remember.

The Ivy schedule has been radically revamped in light of Princeton's decision to finally have finals before winter break and the inability to schedule non-conference games after December. The Ivies have to stretch 14 games into 10 weeks. Might help to add 2 more teams to the league--most leagues are now much larger than 8 and play only in-conference after the New Year.

Down by 4, 48-44, with no DLR. Pretty good first half against a team with more front court height. Lots of home cooking from the local color commentator, a former Cornell player.

48-44 Cornell at the half. Lions looking good though… this one might come down to the wire.

Will be interesting to see if the Cornell pressing and trapping will have an increased effect as the game progresses.

91-79 final as we ran out of gas in crunch time; no DLR hurt, but we played a good game and had a chance to steal it if a few shots had gone in for us. We really lack front court size, which is going to be a problem going forward. Brown played very well. I think he played 40 minutes again. I do think we are a better team than last year and with DLR we could actually beat Cornell at home. I thought that there were a few bad calls that went against us but all in all the officiating was OK.

Brown played very well.
Probably had the dunk of the night.

When we went into a zone with about 8 minutes to go we became vulnerable to the open 3 point shot. The zone isn’t effective against teams with high percentage 3 point shooters.

Seemed like good strategy to me... the Big Red were having their way in the paint and the Lions could not cut into the lead. Engles probably figured his best shot was to hope that Cornell would go cold from deep.

I agree that it was the correct strategy. We have known that our lack of front court size would be our major issue in playing teams with a front court size advantage. All in all, considering the absence of DLR, I thought that our guys acquitted themselves pretty well and as I said earlier actually had a chance to steal the game if Cornell wasn’t so hot from 3 point range.

We actually played quite well. All that actually remains now is for the women to defeat Cornell on Saturday by more than the men lost.
