There have been several posts here about a second bid to the NCAA tournament.
But what about the NIT?? The winner of the ILT will get an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Usually the loser gets a bid to the NIT.
I believe that this year, the IVY league should get 2 bids to the NIT. Princeton, Yale and Cornell are all really good teams.
Starting this year, the NIT no longer has auto bids for regular season champs who lose their conference tourneys. And it will guarantee 2 auto bids (based on NET) in each of the power conferences. As a result, only Princeton would be certain to get an NIT bid if it loses the ILT.
They claim to be doing this in response to an incoming 2025 postseason tournament that will threaten the NIT's success. I'd be upset if this team wasn't so good - anything but the NCAA would feel like an afterthought.
