Heard from good authority after the women’s game.

This team could potentially win that tournament.

Maybe Dingle can get one final chance to defeat Princeton now that St. John's is not going to the Big Dance?

** Forget that, Pitino will not allow his team to play in the NIT. **

I didn't know there was such a thing, but looks like the NIT selection show is tonight at 9:30 on ESPN2.

Tigers get a #2 seed in bracket with Seton Hall and Providence. Host UNLV in throwback to 1998 NCAA first round.

Cornell also gets a bid and will play at Ohio State.

UNLV is a great team - beat Creighton and went 12-6 in an all-time great MWC. They've been one of the best teams in the country for months, just got off to a slow start.

They would have gotten an at-large if not for a bad November when they were missing a starter (Keylan Boone). Their star freshman PG, Dedan Thomas Jr, is insanely good. He plays like Chris Paul, fearless and clutch beyond his years.

I've seen a bunch of UNLV games on TV and they are really fun to watch.

Yeah I'd rather play pretty much any of the other unseeded teams on paper, but getting a team that has to fly across the country on short notice offsets that quite a bit.

FWIW, because of record number of "bid thieves" and the many #1 seeds who lost their conference tourney (cough), this NIT is the best in ages. Minimal .500 power conference teams.

Need an updated thread title: the game will be on Wednesday night instead:

March 20 @ 8pm on ESPN+. Guess we'll have to win a game to get on TV proper. But hey, I'll take the snub to have another day for Lee to recover.

I'm sure Mitch will be on the phone with Joe Scott to find out how the heck Air Force beat the Rebels by 32 at UNLV on Jan. 23.

Conference play is just weird. Air Force beat UNLV and New Mexico. Georgia Tech (14-18) beat #1 seed UNC, Duke and Clemson. And of course, Brown beat Princeton, Yale and Cornell.

This UNLV team got really good over the course of the season. Especially against top competition. Very glad to have homecourt.
