Tigers to host UNLV on 3/20 as NIT #2 seed

And Lee is still sick, so again, it works both ways.

Just gotta play the best you can - depth is part of a team's strength/weakness. Which was our downfall this postseason, I guess.

Lee may be sick but his defense is still very much one of a healthy Lee.

Hey, the effort is still there. Easier to swat a bad shot than make a tough one.

I thought Hicke was making moves toward the rotation before getting hurt, Collins was the kind of frontcourt depth that I wanted to see but the game seemed to be going too fast for him, although this is a tough game to start to get meaningful minutes.

Hey, no fair for UNLV to get so hot from three. Yikes.

I hate to be that old guy but I hate the Eurostep. Just takes the allowing 3 steps to its inevitable conclusion allowing some to go in two directions and walk around the defender.

HA--that was Tosan's favorite move. Looks different when the other guy uses it.

:-)

Man, Lee is just not himself. And we can't win if our Dynamic Duo ain't getting it done.

I’ve been on the record against the “gather step.” At least Tosan is actually European.

Down nine with 12:45 to go. Lee is still off a bit, but he’s working hard. Others will have to step up.

And I don’t mind eurosteps but I hate letting dribblers plow through defenders, especially when they use their off arm.

I noticed that right away about Lee, even in the opening minutes, just seems out of it on offense.

But UNLV has really been able to get to the hole most of the contest without any serious difficulty. There hasn't been a need for them to try for threes of late. I wonder if Henderson will now counter with some type of zone.

LOL!! Although I normally don't think of any Brits when the term is used. Points further east. And southeast.

MH has been late going to the zone for the last several years. It’s like Voltron’s blazing sword.

Then a steal by Pearce on a kicked ball (?), and then another kicked ball by Pearce that is correctly ruled a kicked ball.

So yeah, the 1-3-1 does the trick.

Sure enough, there's the 1-3-1 although UNLV got through it the first time around. Second time results in a steal, third time in a missed shot, so already seeing good results.

And like Voltron's blazing sword, you wonder why we don't go to it earlier. It's supposed to be a temporary gimmick, but MH's teams do the 1-3-1 so well, it works long-term.

Even against Creighton last year, it was extremely effective. Got the lead down to 7 with the ball late.

Using it too late is the point of the reference. Even the Cartoon Network bumps used to joke about it.

Welp, this game is over. When Martini missed that 3 that was halfway down... yeah.

Bottom line is that once UNLV gets in the paint, it scores. And it has been able to get in the paint quite a bit tonight.

Down 13 with no post defense and Lee not functioning isn’t good. Going to have to force turnovers and have Allocco, Pierce, and/or Davis go off.
