Yep, that's a tough one. Hopefully this gets some rears in gear NIL-wise.

i am going to sign off.
i posted too much info anyway.
and frankly no one cares or listens anyway.

wolf will make more than my son
who will make more than me next year.
disruption. its a shame. and for reasons i cited and others genuinely dug into on financial aid.
we arent doing anything. no momentum.
could it change? of course. but i am not optimistic

People will make their choices I suppose. Are these NIL contracts guaranteed against an ACL tear? I am also reminded of what a Brown alum (played 106 games, maxed 8.4 PPG as a junior) said at halftime of the Princeton game as to what he was up to - finishing his fifteenth year at Goldman.

yep. of course. see that pearl interview from last week.
he had a show cause and discussed it.

here are the limitations for yale for thise interested and then i will be quiet for a long while bc its depressing anywat

in no order
1. bball kids of recent vintage who are high major dont really use the degree to a maximum. so why not maximize bball outcomes and how do you stop that. its cultural and its financial
2. fin aid tax issues are a barrier to a collective moving the needle. we are talking abt big money for wolfs (and maybe etc unfortunately)
3. small sample of $ alums just dont believe in it and think its a recurring issue and just expensive
our bball community of givers isnt that expansive so weight falls on fewer who are not confident in outcomes for yale and the ivy league and while dismayed arent going to be proactive

as an aside as i have written on various team board the sec football nil (which set the standard)--- has massive numbers of small donors and businesses
hard to compete with that given above
and as noted by others in various ways and part and parcel to above ---need scholarships anyway

not all are the same but theoretically. some are pushing back bc they dont get whats promised. but UT AU UGA FSU battles end. very credible and tight feedback loops mean the imposters get found out fast.
they are annual deals like a scholarship

Hard to fathom.

And I have appreciated your insights (except those regarding MH as a player )

The Dusty May experience. His FAU teams played really hard and together. I wasn’t always impressed by their judgment under stress, but Wolf will be a much better passer than any big the Owls had.

Wolf to Michigan is official.

In other news the trend is accelerating league wide including at Princeton.

But mostly crickets on my prophecies last fall.

Was speaking to a friend on fsu's staff. They have 2 players now.

FedEx giving 25mm to nil at Memphis for multiple sports but mostly bball and football.

If I didn't have 2 sons playing d1 next few yrs I wld quit being a fan.
But i have no choice

for Yale's sake I hope the roster is stable as of now for next year.

If so they will be good in this league.
But you can't compete nationally with all the ivy disadvs unless you are older than the comp.

That game is over. I hope aletan blows up next year. But if so he likely leaves etc etc

While the league loses a bunch of good players to the portal, more are staying than leaving. So hopefully Aletan would stick around, like Poulakidas and Mbeng, etc. But it is definitely scary.

It is alarming when the likes of FSU, with big-time sports ambitions, have to go prowling the portal to build their entire roster.

The part I can’t figure out is how the numbers add up across D1 P6. If they are all raiding the mid-majors and low majors, what happens to all the guys who leave before graduating? Are they moving back to mids?
