Opening game hosting Princeton is a chance to surprise everyone, including me.
On one hand, one of our two Div 1 home victories is over 11-2 Marist. On the other hand, we open with 4 of 6 on the road. Assuming the top tier to be Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia and Brown, we have 5 of our first 6 games against them.
For what it's worth, we average below a 20% chance in each of those 5 games per ESPN. With a 70% prediction to beat Penn at home, 1-5 after February 1st is a statistical likelihood. It is statistically more likely that Penn will beat Harvard at Lavietes than it is that Harvard will win any of those other games (on a game by game analsys, not cumulatively).
Lesmond can't continue to shoot 23.1% from 3, can he? Nevertheless, I'm hearing they're still planning on playing the games so let's see.

Here's what I wrote over on Ivy League Chat, where the Princeton fans abide:
Chandler Piggé leads the team in minutes. He is a good rebounder, and scores from the paint and 3 point line. Mostly favors shooting from the right side of the top of the key.
Thomas Batties has almost as many minutes. He seems to be a 3 point specialist; not so much in the paint. Likes the right corner for his 3. Appears to have NBA 3 range.
Robert Hinton scores mostly in the paint, and is an excellent rebounder.
Evan Nelson scores mostly with the 3. Not much in paint.
Tey Barbour and Louis “tout” Lesmond fill out most of the remaining minutes. Barbour a better rebounder and shoots the corner 3. Lesmond shoots 3’s and scores in the paint as well.
Harvard lacks a true big, even more so than Princeton. Keep Hinton from scoring in the paint, and guard the 3 point line for all the others. Hope the 3’s don’t drop.
I would think that Lee, Pierce, Abdullahi, and even Hicke would be able to score inside to take pressure off of our three point shooters.

5.5 point spread seems low.

The defense, especially the pressure, was pretty good. Lee made some shots that we couldn’t do anything about, but I thought that, with only one or two exceptions, we didn’t give them anything too easy. If we guard like that going forward, we should have a chance in all these games.
The offense was okay. We shot a decent percentage from three but struggled inside. The turnovers were what killed us in the second half. We have to focus on getting our freshmen—Hinton, Hunt, and Barbour—going better. We need them but didn’t get a ton yesterday.
