Nothing startling or that new, but ....

Danny Monckton Headed To Ivy League
October 27, 2006

Illinois Prep Bulls-eye has learned through reliable sources close to the situation that Danny Monckton, a 6'6 forward from Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, IL, verbally committed to Penn earlier today. Monckton chose the Quakers over Brown, Princeton, Yale, Eastern Illinois and Illinois-Chicago.

Monckton has a good degree of athleticism and a solid mid-range game. He showed immense improvement over the course of the spring and summer on the AAU circuit with the Rising Stars and that was no doubt instrumental in helping him garner D1 attention.

At Penn, Monckton will have the opportunity to step in at the wing forward spot, as that was the position that Penn recruited him to play. Monckton becomes the second Rising Stars player from the class of 2007 to announce for an Ivy League school. Earlier, 6'3 Rafi Mantilla from Mundelein High School in Mundelein, IL committed to Yale. Like Mantilla, Monckton personifies the definition of "student athlete."

Continue to check in with Illinois Prep Bulls-eye for all of the latest as it pertains to recruiting and high school basketball in Illinois.
