Brown vs. UMES 01-14-05 01:36 PM - Post#2300
In response to internetter
Well, UMES has pretty much stunk this whole year. They're 1-11, they can't shoot, they can't defend, but they rebound decently and have good size.
UMES is coming off an ugly six game road trip, where they went 0-6. They return home vs. Brown today.
A few things make me a little uncomfortable. First, this is a team Brown is supposed to beat - probably the worst team they've played this year, worse than Canisius. Coming off the Canisius game, another one they were supposed to win, I'm not sure how they'll respond.
Second, UMES is returning home to the first friendly crowd they've seen in a long time. Plus, this is another early afternoon game on the road - and last time, they came out sluggish in front of a pretty big crowd of screaming kids. UMES has made this game free admission, so there might be a better than average crowd at this one too.
Third, if UMES has any talent, it's where Brown is most vulnerable - inside. UMES starts two pretty solid big men in 6'11 270 Jason McKinnon and 6'9 240 Tim Parnham. Both of these guys are much bigger and stronger than anyone we have, and average roughly 9 and 6. Brown should be able to run circles around them, but could get bounced around inside.
Their guards are pretty weak, and I'd like to see Brown have a field day from outside and bottle up their guards. Athletic point guard Corey Brown is the best of the bunch, with 10 ppg and 3 assists.
There's an opportunity here for Brown to dominate this game and finish the non-conference season at .500, and there's an opportunity to lose to another poor team in an away gym at roughly noontime.
LET'S go BRU-no (duh. nuh. nuh-nuh-nuh) |
