Another sport Bucknell will not play Bloomsburg in for at least the next 15 years..........

nice call..........I love regional rivalries in any sport. Actually, no shame here for the Bison. Bloom is a perenial power in D2 softball and, of course, field hockey. Tennis teams meet on April 18. Wrestling is the rivalry I hope both schools try to cultivate and grow.....

If it's not a different Tara Reed, the masses on this board may just have to inquire into potential grad programs at Bloomsburg
Will Atlas shrug? Who is John Galt?

Our graduate programs are rated just behind the University of Phoenix for convenience and faculty execellence. In fact, they are much less expensive. It is more than probably not the same Tara Reed as we have a dry campus.

Actually I think the actress (celebrity a better term?) spells is Reid, but I couldn't resist.

Come now, we shouldn't let small errors like name spellings stop us from sweeping on to the grand fallacy about celebrity members of Bloomsburg's student population.

Unfortunately Bloomsburg is not the only school to beat the Bison softballers, as their 6-18 record will attest. That is one of the few sports where Bucknell has not had much recent success. They hired a new coach prior to last season, so we'll have to see what kind of recruiting success she has over the next few years.

If there is any silver lining to this season, it is that there are only two seniors on the team this year (plus one who has been hurt all year). All of the pitchers will return next year, although they could definitely use one dominant pitcher.

The 6-18 is far more disturbing than the loss to Bloomsburg for sure. As discussed, in many of the non-$ making sports the gaps between typical D1 school (not the elites) and elites in D2 is in fact very small. Bloomsburg beats plenty of D1 schools in tennis every year and is competitive but not elite in D2 themselves. HOwever Bloomsburg cannot get a point off Penn State when they play them. Point being, Bucknell really needs to measure themselves within the Patriot League I feel to determine success in most of its sports programs. Never forgetting, of course, it is a helluva lot easier to get into Bloom than Bucknell.

Great come-from-behind win for the Softball Team

Since I was the one who mentioned the poor softball record a few weeks ago, it's only fair to give the team credit for a huge come-from-behind win at Penn State yesterday. The Bison women trailed 7-0 in the fourth inning before rallying to win 8-7 in the seven inning nightcap of a doubleheader (PSU won the opener). Penn State has a 22-18 record btw, and the Bison women had an all-time 1-14 record against them before this victory.

One positive sign for the team is that the two hitting stars in the game are freshmen, both of whom have hit well all year, and the winning pitcher, who gave up no earned runs in six IP, is a soph. Their top two hitters for the year are also underclassmen. Now if they could just recruit one dominating pitcher.....
