The NCAA just honored the sports teams that ranked in the top 10% of their sport in the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the past three years. Bucknell had 17 teams recognized for their academic record (out of 24 teams in total) - the best in the PL. The PL was second of all conferences, behind the Ivy League, with an average of 11.5 awards per school. The PL schools:
Bucknell 17 Holy Cross 15 Lafayette 14 Lehigh 14 Navy 14 Colgate 11 Army 4 American 3
The service academies (especially Army) may be at a bit of a disadvantage with this rating mechanism, but there is no real excuse for American's performance. Excluding the Ivy and PL, the average D1 school had 1.9 teams that received awards. Of the 839 teams recognized, 244 were Ivy/PL schools.
