Odd game this one. I guess URI is actually supposed to be pretty good this year, picked to finish 2nd in the A-10. Still, playing at home, was thinking Brown would put forth a better showing.
Brown didn't neutralize URI's athleticism, and the Rams' defense was terrific, particularly on Damon and McAndrew. URI got a bunch of layups, and crushed Brown in the paint. There were few rebounds, and that's probably why Brown actually outrebounded the Rams 37-29. Huh?
Brown also missed a bunch of open threes and even a bunch of layups. Not to mention 22 turnovers, many at key times. Credit URI for good defense, but blame Brown for a really sloppy game overall.
They did, though, get to the line more than the Michigan game, and it was really good to see Scott Friske play like a man. He really had a good game with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He even hit a few threes, playing strong inside and out. Adrian Williams also really contributed, hitting a few key threes to help deflate some of URI's momentum. I have a feeling that he's only going to get more time.
URI's Will Allen is GOOD.
