We have loss four of our last five and the finger-pointing has begun. Let us consider:

1. Philip Anderson.

His game has gone south for some unexplainable reason. He's no longer the best 6'10" three-point shooter in the land. Here's a look at the numbers(2006 season vs. 2007 year to date):

Starts: 20 / 0 (see below)
Min. per game: 18.8 / 16.0
Pts. per game: 5.1 / 3.0
FG%: .508 / .290
3 Pt. FG%: .486 / .286
Fouls per game: 2.5 / 2.8
Turnovers per game: .967 / 1.25
Rebounds per game: 3.0 / 3.1

Coach Reed has tapped the same five to being each of the first 8 contests. Gourlay (16.8) and Anderson (16.1) are next in line in terms of minutes played, after the starting five - each with 19 or more minutes. In fact, the starting five account for 73% of the minutes played.

2. The Gourlay/Anderson duo at Center (roaming the high post most of the time). It's not working.

With only six games left on the OOC schedule, it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, Coach Reed does to enhance our play at the "5" position.

3. Marquis Hall's performance.

Over the past five games, our top gunner (106 attempts for the season) seems dead-set on carrying this team on his back when others might well be able to chip-in if given expanded roles (Keefer and Szalachowski come quickly to mind based on FG%). Hall is hitting a meger .284 from the field over the 5 game stretch beginning with the Albany loss.

4. Rebounding. During the past 12 days - a one win/four loss stretch of time - we were out-rebounded by our opponents 198 - 160. It only gets worse....during the last two encounters, we have yanked down a combined 17 offensive rebounds to our opponents 37. Forget second chance points; there's just not coming to us.

Can Coach Reed and Company right the ship? Two chances remain before the exam break: Stoney Brook (Wed) and Harvard (Sat) - both at home and both winnable. A 5-5 record would certainly make for a Merry Christmas.
