Before you pop the cork on the champaign to celebrate a win over injury-riddled Holy Cross tomorrow up in Worcester - a victory that would place us at 5-2 at the half way mark of the PL season and a win, that in combination with an AU win over Lafayette (also tomorrow) would vault us into the first place in the league standings, be ever mindful of the facts:

LU has lost 11 straight to Holy Cross at the Hart Center by an average score of 54 to 70.

Our dominance in the paint may well be tested for the first time this year by the Crusaders' Tim Clifford (6'11") and Greg McCarthy (6'11") who combine for 19.9 ppg and 7.6 rpg.

Holy Cross beat American University two games ago, a team Lehigh lost to on opening night.

Holy Cross holds a edge in Rebounding Margin +6.7 to LU's -0.7

RPI Rankings
LU 230 (up 25 after win over BU)
HC 148 (in recognition of record against far superior OOC schedule)

Sagarin Rankings
LU 232
HC 163 (would equate to HC being 8 point favorite at home)

Our Assist and Assists to Turnover Ratio are exactly the same at 11.17 apg and a ratio of +.75

There's little difference in our overall shot production. Lehigh's FG% comes in at .411; Holy Cross at .403, while we hold a slight 2.8 ppg edge in scoring offense.

It's Holy Cross

The Mountain Hawks are, however, riding a four game winning streak and do hold significant statistical advantages in:

FG% Defense
LU .383 (1st in PL)
HC .444 (6th in PL)

3FG% Offense
LU .379 (4th in PL)
HC .277 (8th in PL)

I've got a feeling this game will be close with the spotlight shinning on Lehigh's guard play for perhaps the first time this year. Let's hope that the Marquis Hall we saw out in Lewisburg (5 for 10 and key contributor from the line) returns and that Buchberger (1 fga against BU), Keefer (4 fga against BU), Szalachowski (1 fga against BU), and Shamis (1 fga against BU) haven't loss their touch with all the recent attention paid to feeding White and Carrington in the paint. I like Small to come up big in this game with drive penetrations a trips to the line. He exhibits great pose for a freshman. Sokja didn't phase him; it's doubtful The Hart Center will either. Given additional minutes, he could be this year's Marquis Hall.

ESPNU gets a good game.

Go Lehigh!
