After leading by 12 in the second half, Columbia blew it at home in the final minutes, losing by four. Certainly not a good way to build confidence and momentum. If they can't last at home against Stony Brook, losing the lead with two minutes to go, how badly will they be beaten at Madison Square Garden next month by NC State?

The Lions shot 23-44; Stony Brook 27-50. Col outrebounded them, had more assists. With those numbers, they would win most games. Most! So much for numbers!!
Significant improvement in most areas over the LIU performance, in any case.

We played well; SB played better. On 3 occasions, we played great D for 35 seconds, SB had to take a desperation 3, and they hit all 3, including a 3 that was banked in from about 25 ft. That's not going to happen often. Where we did shoot ourselves in the foot was at the free throw line. Except for the Longwood game, we have not shot FT's well, and if we don't improve there, we're going to pay. Today we were 11 of 17 and SB was 25 of 31, and a number of our misses were front ends of 1 and 1's. Good news: Kravic finally seems to be getting back into rhythm. He hit for 14 and shot 3's well. Montgomery again played well; he acquited himself well on D and shot 5 of 7 for 13 in about 20 minutes. And, Baumann is off his crutches; one of the assistant coaches said he thought Baumann could be back in 2 to 3 weeks. That sounds optimistic, but I don't know anything about stress fractures or how quickly they mend, so who knows.
