lifted from my LU Voy posting of today:

The countdown is underway. The players, who have been working-out on their own, will be joined by their coaches (to include the return of #20, BWhite) one week from today, Friday, Oct 17th. Opening day is just 29 days later, on the road, against the Peacocks of St. Peter's, Saturday, Nov 15. Anyone up for Bucknell football (Goodman Stadium) at 12:30pm that day, and a quick trip into Jersey City to see the roundball season tip-off at 4 o'clock that day?

The Brown and White will play 29 games this year leading up to the PL Playoffs which begin on March 4th. The 15 OOC games (7 at home and 8 on the road) will feature teams from nine D-I conferences. The breakdown follows:

3 Ivy
2 AE
2 Independent
2 NE
2 MAAC
1 Big East
1 Pac 10
1 A 10
1 MEAC

Looking over the opponents'final 2007-2008 RPI rankings, we see:

1 Top 100 Team (St. Joe's @ 45)
2 101-200 Teams (Rider @ 110 and Washington @ 121)
6 201-300 Teams
6 301-341 Teams

LU, as you may remember finished the year with a 14-15 record and was ranked 244th in the nation. As luck would have it, were you to add together the final rankings of the 15 teams we'll play in OOC contests this year and divide by 15 you'd come up with an opponent average of 244....equal to LU's final PRI from last year. Our 15 OOC opponents this year finished last year with a 159-289 record for a winning percentage of .355. In short, Lehigh would seem to have a manageable/appropriate schedule of games leading up to PL play. Of course, last year's RPI is just that - last year's! Rosters change and so do programs.

For those looking for a new forum to discuss basketball, may I suggest Basketball-U. Their website address is: basketball-u.com. There you will find coverage of not just the PL programs (led by the insightful comments of BU fans) but those from other conferences as well, to include: Ivy, American East, NEC, MAAC, and NEC. Enrollment is easy. Give it a try.

Back with more later..........
