With his 8 for 8 performance from the line tonight, Michael Lang is now 44 for 45 for the year (97.7%). That would put him first in the nation, but I believe he needs 2.5 attempts per game to qualify for the national title. Sadly, he's only averaging 2 attempts per game at this point, and would need 20 more attempts in the last three games to qualify.
Even more remarkable, if he did somehow qualify, he could finish with the highest season FT percentage in history. (the record is currently 97.5% (117 of 120) Blake Ahern of SW Missouri St. 2004).
