Mid-year info: Cisco's Mendham team (the same school that produced Penn's Schifner) is 10-1, no. 1 in Morris County and no. 22 in N.J. He leads the league in rebounds and blocks, and is averaging 17 pts. In an inverview, he said he had been recruited by, among others, American, Holy Cross, Princeton, Iona and others.
Very difficult to find any info on Columbia's second recruit, Tom Piscina at Choate Rosemany.

Continues to play consistently. Last game against 2d best team in county scored 25 pts with 8 rbs in victory; team at 15-1 in county of medium quality BB. Saw some video clips; looks like a Miller/Mullery type player.

Appreciate your point! More seriously, my best guess is that it will take a year or two for him to get used to the difference in quality and speed of play, but at this stage he's a bit more agile and coordinated, but less strong, than was Miller when he first arrived in college. On the up side, Cisco is playing for a great coach (600 victories), so presumably is getting very good coaching.

Skiba's point was that due to Columbia's injuries up front, Marc Cisco would probably be seeing playing time next week if were already attending Columbia. Cisco appears to be a solid prospect who will be a welcome addition to the Lion front line next year.

With all the injuries the Lions have had this season, it is evident that the Lions need to recruit at least four more players including a couple of guards who can shot the ball better than the current group. Great opportunity for a standout high player to come right in and make an impact at Columbia. Will it happen? Time will tell.

Not many frosh can step in and be effective right off. (e.g., Agho is very promising but has a lot to learn; ditto Egee) The system, pace are formidable for most. None has played on consecutive nights, too.
Grimes and Ampim will carry the F load next year, with some possible help from Johnson and Mase, is my guess. If a newbie contributes, eventually, all the better but not to be counted on.

Cisco's team lost only for the 2d time last night, 71-69 to Newark Weequahic, a team Mendham had beaten at home by 20. Cisco nevertheless had a great night, leading Mendham with 23 pts and 14 rbs, including 5/5 from the line.

Top-seeded Mendham (21-2) will be a heavy favorite when it plays 10th-seeded Madison (12-10) for the Morris County Tournament championship on Saturday at 7 at County College of Morris in Randolph. Madison is the lowest seed to reach the final since 11th-seeded Randolph was an overtime loser to Parsippany Hills in 2005.
Madison will have a hard time matching up with Mark Cisco, the 6-8, Columbia-bound center from Mendham who scored 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor and a 6-for-6 effort from the foul line in a 65-35 semifinal triumph over 12th-seeded Roxbury on Saturday. Cisco was the tournament MVP when Mendham won the championship last year.

"Mark Cisco hit for 24 points and Rob Berish scored 19 as Mendham clinched the Iron Hills Conference-Hills Division championship in Rockaway. Cisco, a 6-8 senior center, is averaging 22.2 points over his last five game."

There are 2 two minute plus video clips of the Mendham county quarter final game and the semi final game. Cisco is # 55. Go to http://ironhillssports.com/ then to the now top item, Boys Hoops Iron Predictions 2/26, then to the second comment, which is by DJ, and the link to the videos is in his comment. Look at the video of Roxbury v Mendham and Mendham v Kinnelon.
Cisco looks like he goes up strong and has a soft touch; runs well for his size; perhaps could be a better rebounder for his size. Team looks very nicely coached; ball is passed around nicely.

Mendham 61, Madison 39 — MORRIS COUNTY TOURNAMENT
``We had a plan,'' Madison coach Bill Librera said. ``But it was one with a lot of ifs.''
Chief among them was not allowing Mendham to capitalize from the outside if it focused on Cisco down low. And sure enough, Mendham put forth a sizzling performance from the perimeter that resulted in a large lead at halftime. That forced Madison to play more loosely in the third quarter and the result was a 61-39 victory for Mendham before 1,500 at County College of Morris in Randolph.
Cisco ended with 13 points for Mendham, leaving him 12 shy of 1,000 for his career. He'll go for the milestone when Mendham plays host to the winner of the game between Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Summit on Thursday in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 quarterfinals.

Center Mark Cisco scored 22 points and collected 10 rebounds for Mendham as Scotch Plains-Fanwood ousted Mendham, 53-48, in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA/ShopRite North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 Thurs.

Evaluation
March, 2009: Cisco has very impressive size and strength and uses these tools to play a very effective brand of basketball in the paint. He does not shy away from contact, in fact, he looks to create contact with the opposition and when combined with his good athleticism, Cisco causes problems for opposing teams in the paint. He will finish around the rim with both hands, but he needs to continue to improve his footwork in the post and become a better scorer with his back to the basket. He rebounds the ball very well in as well as out of his area. Cisco plays very hard and works on both ends of the floor. He does a decent job of running the floor and should score in transition. Cisco has a never-ending motor and does not take plays off.

Cisco is coming into a situation where Columbia's two returning powere forwards (Ampim and Grimes) will be coming off serious injuries. That being the case, he may very well be the starting power forward for Columbia next season. Of course, the ideal situation would be for one of the two upperclassman to start with Cisco in reserve, but I'm not counting on that to happen considering that Grimes missed the entire season with an ACL and Ampim ended up as a part timer. At this time, our 13 man 2009-10 roster is filled with guys who were seriously injured this year. If Coach Jones doesn't recurit a couple of studs in the next few weeks, we are in deep trouble.

So the Scouts profile has him at 6'10" 240, while the newspaper write up has him at 6'8" 220, I wonder which is more accurate. Frankly, he and the team might be better off if the latter is the case--6'8" might be a lot more mobile than 6'10", and either is big enough to play inside.

I saw him from the stands at his last game against Scotch Plains. He looked more 6'8" to me.
