I agree its not the Big Five, but developing regional rivalries is probably a good thing for those schools to do.

Does Brown play Providence & URI on an annual or occasional basis. Sure, the Bears will lose most of the time; but the occasional win is very sweet & the better pre-league competition can't hurt.

Brown usually plays URI and PC (at one time it was home and home) and has now added Bryant.

Perhaps these are small steps or matters, but the local rivalries should spark interest, particularly if they are competitive. But in any event playing PC & URI can only be a plus for the Bears. The Connecticut little six doesn't sound like a whole lot, but it should generate a little buzz. If Columbia could get something going with Fordham & Manhattan it would help their program. (I suspect that St. John's wouldn't be interested; they'd lose at least one of the games & hurt their brand).

Dartmouth plays UNH, Harvard plays Brandais, Cornell plays Syracuse, I think Princeton played Rutgers last year. Come on Yale, man up.

and, they'll face sixth-seeded Hofstra at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn., on Monday, Nov. 16 in the NIT season tip-off.
