Wake Forest at Bucknell Sunday Nov 15
Afternoon game (pretty sure it's a 2pm tip)
We're playing Robert Morris, but I can't remember where.
At Penn State Thanksgiving weekend. I think they said Saturday.
Pretty sure PSU and Wake are the only major conference teams scheduled at this point. We have three open dates, though, and I think the idea is to shoot for two of them to be guarantee games.

Thanks for the info. That apparently means no Gazelle Group tournament this year, since those events have provided two guarantee games in past years.

Combining the above with series from the past couple of years, I think this is what we know thus far:
Home:
Wake Forest
Siena
Columbia
Away:
Penn State
Mount St. Mary's
Unknown:
Robert Morris
As for other opponents, I wonder if the two traditional opponents, St. Francis and Cornell, may reappear - or if Marist will continue. Marist has been a traditional opponent, playing BU 7 of the past 8 years (plus another year when BU played in their tournament). Also it is possible that the Fairfield series and/or the Albany series was for more than two years. As for other possibilities, I'd like to see another Ivy (Princeton or Penn) and an A-10 (LaSalle, St. Joes, or Bona or maybe Duquesne) if BU can get one of them to pay a visit to Sojka at some point.
If BU is not in an exempt tournament ("Multiple Team Event"), then they are limited to 29 games - 11 ooc games. If they are in a 3-game MTE, then they can play 30 games - and if they are in a 4-game MTE, then they can play 31 games. The latter was the case last year, when they had 13 ooc games plus the 18 PL games.

add Faifield at home, it is a four game series
how do you know MSM series is continuing?
strongly agree with desire to schedule an A10 team with a Lewisburg visit.
any intel on the PSU contract, in particular, were they willing to continue on a 2 for 1 basis?

You're right. I don't. Wasn't thinking. Given the proximity, I'd like it to continue. And with Nathan Davis having a relationship with Jamion Christian, hopefully that will happen.

Your wish is granted. You jogged my memory and I now recall that Princeton is also on the schedule...not sure where, though.

And I'm pretty sure they said we are indeed playing Mount Saint Mary's again.

Congrats to Bucknell for scheduling a power conference team in Sojka for the second straight year!

As with every year, I would love to see the Bison play a team in Philadelphia. Any of the Big Five teams would be fine, but I would especially like to see them play Penn or St. Joes. A game at the Palestra would be GREAT!
Also, the Bison played Rider several years ago in their high school looking gym. I wouldn't mind going there again. The Trenton area is very convenient for anybody in North Jersey, NYC, Philly, South Jersey, and Eastern PA.

Agreed, 89! How long has it been since we've played in the Palestra? I can't remember. Back in the ECC days, we played a couple of games there every year. I recall one doubleheader when I was a student where we played St. Joe's in the first game and LaSalle played Notre Dame in the nightcap. That was a great atmosphere. With the number of students and alums in Philadelphia, this should be a priority. Also agree about Rider. We could get a ton of North Jersey and NYC alums to attend. We could do the same with Monmouth.

It's too bad so few Big Five games are played in the Palestra now. Are there any games played there these days that don't involve Penn?

Yes, I saw Temple-La Salle there two seasons ago.

Fittingly, as we finish marking the 10-year anniversary of the Bucknell-Kansas game, the last time we were at the Palestra was against Penn in early December of that season.
I was at that one, wearing a vintage 1989 ECC champs t-shirt with BUCKNELL VS SYRACUSE on the back. Penn raced out to an enormous lead reminiscent of that kind of match-up. Feeling my touting of that loss was jinxing the team, I switched into a spare shirt I had with me. The Bison rallied, but fell short.
As I left, the team was making its way to the bus on a cold Philly night. With conviction, I called out, "Keep your heads up guys--we have a GREAT season ahead of us."

The Bucknell-at-Rider game that kicked off the post-Kansas 2005-06 season is one of my all-time favorite atmosphere/environment games. I love small gyms like that and the place was PACKED and rowdy as Rider gave the Bison a barnburner game that came down to a late game-winner by...Bettencourt, I think.
Four days later, Bucknell paid a visit to #18 Syracuse and showed the world that---to borrow the headline from the Syracuse newspaper the next day---"The Bison Are For Real."

Yes by Bettencourt. He had missed 7 or 8 straight shots before hitting the winner.
One great thing about the Syracuse win was how the game came about. You probably remember that the original idea was for the Bison to play Syracuse in Wilkes-Barre's Wachovia Arena as a homecoming game for Gerry McNamara, who played for Holy Cross HS in the Scranton area. However after BU beat Pitt and then Kansas, Boeheim decided that wasn't such a great idea. So his new offer was to still play BU, but only in the Carrier Dome - where they have feasted off of midmajors for decades. But not this time. Boeheim ended up playing MacNamara's homecoming game vs a weak Towson team in Wilkes-Barre, a game the Orange won by about 40 points. MacNamara ended up leading Syracuse to the Big East title later in the year.

I was at the Palestra for that Bucknell-St Joe's/LaSalle-Notre Dame. I distinctly recall sitting behind Kelly Tripucka and watching the Digger show.
The Bison would sure be welcome at the Pit to face the Lobos...

Can somebody please remind me why that game started about 45 min late? Wasn't there an accident or something like that?

Yes, I think there was a major accident on Route 1 that had traffic virtually at a stand-still.

This made a tough trip and game for the Bison. They arrived very late at the gym and had a short warm up and then the game. I believe there was a fatality in the accident holding up traffic including their bus. This is a lot to deal with for anyone, yet alone young college basketball players to focus their attention on a game, under these circumstances. I was on the Bucknell fan bus, we only were allotted 13 tickets and had to leave the cheerleaders back in Lewisburg.
