I have it too. Can’t bring myself to start a thread on the Brown board.
But we collectively win game with the most depressed fans.
Meanwhile I have never listened to the Penn announcers before and I am obsessed with them. They announce like it’s a show for their friends and no one else is watching.
LET'S go BRU-no (duh. nuh. nuh-nuh-nuh) |

This is SOOOOO bad. There is nothing here. The bench bigs add nothing. The offense is stale and worthless. And the development office claims Steve deserves another year. Sinking to new lows.

They come out of the second half with 2 steals and somehow the lead has still ballooned to 9 for Brown 2 minutes into the 2nd.

5 point favorites now down 11 with 3:12 to go. A new low has been reached. I hope they lose out. Steve deserves more time though, right coins?

Barring an two upset wins this will go down as the worst Penn Ivy record of all time. Even Allen won 4 games his worst year.

Beyond the bad loss, the scariest part is that Clark graduates and in this game he was the only player for Penn with more than 10 points (his 32 points were 50% of Penn’s scoring).
Has Penn ever had a 1-8 start to the Ivy League schedule? I took a quick look at Allen’s and Miller’s worst years and neither had this bad a start to an Ivy slate.

Sorry for the shrapnel, coins. I meant slane.
With 5 home games left, I will reserve judgment at least until after this weekend on whether it is time to bury this team and turn 100% of my attention to the only sport at Penn that still really matters which is lacrosse — the only remaining sport in which Penn can realistically aspire to an NCAA championship.
As for Clark, the worst part to me was that like normal, most of his scoring was done on his own. Just like with Jordan. The offense as a whole is completely dysfunctional when playing against Ivy teams. Although with what I’ve seen of late, this awfulness wouldn’t work against anyone. Something has changed and it is even worse to watch in person.

This was all predictable--no one wins in the Ivies where there is so little experience. The real scary thing is that Perkins looks like he has hit the freshman wall and might lose confidence, which is what made him so good early in the year. Sam Brown is shooting 15-43 in the last 5 games. No improvement and clear regression from the freshmen. Giving up those seats was the best move I made...and it was hard after 32 years.

I truly don’t know what I’m going to do next year…I’m sure they’ll get me again, but with no Nova I’m really looking forward to another subpar home schedule too.
Everyone is regressing because the offense is THAT stale. Polonowski may as well never play because this offense will never generate an open look for him, so he has no value. I keep thinking about all the open 3s the Fran teams used to get. Sure, having better talent helps, but we saw crisp ball movement and a player like Kegler was able to shine.

I have completed an analysis of the last three eras of Penn BB, starting with the KP data from 1999, the farthest back that data goes. Here are the facts and some opinions.
First, the Dunphy era was waaaaaaaay better than Donahue’s tenure, 76 ranking points better on average. Franny’s worst year was only 18 ranking points worse than Steve’s average year. I suspect the average will be 60 or more points better than this year once the final wreckage is complete.
The big difference is on defense, 103 points better. Offense is 41 points better. Interestingly, it is only 12 points better than Steve’s second phase (post AJ). Dumph’s worst defense year is 150 points better than Steve worst.
Steves second phase has been better on offense by 49 points over his first phase. But the defense has slipped by 155 points. Steve has apparently reverted to his history of favoring offensive over defense at the cost of victories. For instance, Phase two has averaged a rank of 136 on 3% shooting on offense and 218 on defense.
Other second phase notables are a rank of 334 on defense turnovers and 293 on three attempts (Mike James’ favorite stat).
The current team is of course worse on every stat but defensive rebounding. Notably they rank 308 on foul shooting, 330 on turnover defense, and 302 on surrendered assists.
While it is clear Clark’s injury has hurt the offensive ranks this year, the defense should not have been affected.
So, with Clark’s departure we are at a position where major recruiting help will be required to regain any hope of squeaking into Ivy Madness next year, probably in two years. Since when do Frosh turn a program around? It will require two years of good recruiting for the promising Freshmen on this team to have a shot at real contention. Unless, of course, next year’s class includes an AJ and a Ryan Betley. They turned the Allen mess into a championship in two years, albeit against a league without its usual sub 100 program.
Maybe I should just resurrect one of my posts from 2015. Here we are 10 years later in the same leaky boat.
